CHAPTER EIGHT, debut
( Hart )
Another party. A party before another party, except Gina had to wear a white dress for the next one. This one, she only wore low-waisted jeans and a shirt she stole from Summer last year. Gina, Seth and Ryan wandered into the party together, as usual.
"Give me ten minutes to find Summer," Seth started his eyes glancing around the packed room to find Gina's best friend. Gina looked over at the boy a quiet sigh falling from her lips. "Lock it down for tomorrow. See where the night takes me." Gina looked over the crowd to see if she could maybe find the girl before Seth. She couldn't see the party girl but she did find a familiar, tall brunette.
"I'm going to go talk to James," Gina's voice came out a little hushed, her focus no longer on the disappointment she was feeling but on the butterflies that rose in her stomach when James looked over and caught her eye. He waved at her and she smiled.
"James?" Seth looked at the girl. "Who's James?"
"Uh, he's an escort-" Gina sputtered out, her eyes widening.
"Woah!" Seth turned his body fully to look at the girl, his eyes just as wide as hers. Ryan smirked in amusement. "He's an escort?!" Gina shook her head and looked at Seth.
"He's my escort," she clarified. "For Cotillion." Gina looked back over at James, who was still looking at her. She waved back and suddenly Seth and Ryan weren't as important anymore. "I gotta go."
"Be back here in ten minutes!" Ryan yelled as Seth and Gina wandered off in different directions. "Both of you!" Gina waved her hand behind her back to shush the boy as she made her way over to James.
"Hey Gina," James smiled at the girl. Today James was wearing the same shirt as the day before but this time it was black instead of white. He had rolled his sleeves up. He had a red solo cup in his hand, a pink liquid splashing as he waved his arm around.
"Hey James," Gina spoke a dazed smile along her lips as she looked at the boy. "You spoke to anyone else around here, yet?" James took a sip of his drink and moved his head from side to side.
"Uh, this Luke kid came up to me," James answered. Gina grimaced. "Yeah," he agreed. "We spoke for a little bit before his girlfriend came up to him."
"Marissa?"
"Marissa, yeah," James pointed at the girl, thanking her for reminding him of Marissa's name. "I like her." Gina nodded.
"Great girl," Gina agreed. "One of my best friends, actually." James' right eyebrow raised.
"Really?"
