CHAPTER SEVENTEEN, the heights
( carnival fun )

It was a slow, boring morning that involved the usual Gina morning routine. Half of a routine that was spent in her bed. After the long time it took for Gina to force herself to get out of bed and get dressed her dad had already left for work. Her brother, however, was still home and seemed to be morphing into the couch cushions.

"Daniel," Gina said as she walked into the living room. Dan was sitting on the grey sofa, his legs kicked up on the coffee table. "I see you aren't going to work."

"What gives you that impression?" he asked, not looking away from the Television when Gina leant on the sofa behind him.

"Umm maybe the robe you stole from my room," Gina said, pushing the boy's head forward. Dan grunted and waved his hand in the air as if to tell Gina to leave. She rolled her eyes and pushed his hand down.

"Yeah I thought it was too small," Dan joked.

"What one day off of work and you turn into a homeless man?" Gina asked as she moved away from the sofa and towards the loveseat in the corner. Her handbag was sitting on it, a jumper thrown over the seat.

"Yup, a homeless man with a home," Dan said. Gina rolled her eyes a smile on her face. She grabbed her jumper and started putting it on. "And a TV and a whole fridge full of food."

"You just gonna be a slob all day?" Gina asked. She picked up her bag and stood next to the edge of the sofa, watching the television herself.

"Might clean my room," he answered, simply.

"You wanna clean my room while you're at it?" Gina looked over at the boy. Dan paused the show he was watching and looked at his sister. He raised his eyebrow.

"You want me to deep clean it or just a light dust?" he asked, sarcastically.

"Do you put little chocolates or mints on my pillow with the deep clean?"

"Both," Dan answered, with a laugh. "But I eat them before they even touch the pillowcase." Gina laughed and rolled her eyes.

"Fantastic service," she laughed. Dan nodded and smiled at the girl, before getting up. He walked over and passed her, making his way into the kitchen.

"I thought you left later?" Dan asked. Gina followed the boy into the kitchen. She nodded.

"Yeah, but I'm talking Ms Roberts to schoollio," Gina informed the boy. He nodded and pulled open the cabinet by the fridge. He took out a mug. "Why? You want me out of the house?" Dan rolled his eyes and looked over his shoulder. Gina was leaning against the island.
