Bella POV

It was the day after Leah had cooked my favourite dinner to celebrate the end of term. I woke up early and went for a long run - I always found that running helps me to collect my thoughts. Before I returned home, I thought I would text Amanda to see if I could pop over.

Leah was at training until 2pm so I got home, quickly got changed. Opting for a black Nike jumper, black leggings and baseball cap, I made my way to Amanda's.

I nervously adjusted the bouquet of flowers in my hands as I approached Leah's family home. A gentle knock echoed through the cozy living room, and Amanda opened the door with a warm smile. "Bella, dear! What a treat. Come on in."

I stepped inside, pulling Amanda in for a cuddle. "Thank you. I hope this hasn't messed up your day. I wanted to talk to you about something important."

Amanda led me to the comfortable living room, gesturing for me to take a seat on the plush sofa. "Not at all, dear. You're always welcome here. What's on your mind?"

Taking a deep breath, I met Amanda's kind gaze. "Amanda, I care deeply for Leah. We've been through so much together, and I can't imagine my life without her. I've come here to hear your thoughts on officially asking Leah to be my girlfriend."

Amanda's eyes twinkled with understanding, and she sat down beside me, taking my hands into hers. "B, I've seen the connection between you two. Leah speaks so highly of you, and it's evident that you make her happy. But tell me, what makes you want to take this step?"

I spoke from the heart, my words sincere and genuine. "Leah is not just a partner; she's my best friend, biggest supporter, and makes me so happy. I want to be there for her in every way possible, and I want to build a future together. I know relationships can be challenging, but I'm willing to face whatever comes our way, with my best intentions always."

Amanda listened attentively, her thoughtful expression revealing a mix of emotions. "Bella, I appreciate your honesty and sincerity. Leah's happiness means the world to me, and it's clear that you hold a special place in her heart. I trust that you'll cherish and support each other."

Relief washed over me as Amanda continued, "You have my blessing, Bella. May your relationship with my daughter be filled with love, understanding, and precious moments. Just promise me one thing – always communicate and appreciate the bond you share."

I smiled, gratitude filling my eyes. "Thank you, Amanda. I promise to do my best and to treasure what we have. Your support means the world, I would never have asked without your blessing."

As we shared a warm hug, I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and excitement for the journey ahead. With Amanda's approval, I was ready to embark on a new chapter with Leah.

Amanda POV

I knew as soon as Bella her text me this morning why she wanted to come over. I knew because it was a conversation Leah had with just a few days prior. I had popped over to Leah's one morning, I had spoken with her so I knew what time she would be home from training.

Leah sat across from me, in the kitchen filled with the comforting smell of freshly brewed tea. My heart fluttered with a mix of nerves and excitement as she prepared to speak.

"Mum," Leah began, her eyes meeting mine, "there's something important I want to talk to you about."

I set my teacup down, giving her an encouraging smile. "Of course, sweetheart. You can always talk to me. What's up?"

She took a deep breath, her fingers tracing patterns on the tabletop - something she does when she's nervous. "It's about B. We've been spending a lot of time together, and I've come to realise that I'm ready to take our relationship to the next level. I want to make things official with her."

My eyes softened with understanding as I reached across the table, placing a comforting hand on Leah's. "Bubba, I've seen the connection between you two. Bella is a wonderful person, and it's clear that you care for her a lot. What's stopping you from making things official?"

Leah hesitated for a moment before sharing, "I guess I've been unsure about how B would feel, how you would feel and how her friends would feel. That's why I wanted to run it past you guys first. I value your opinion, Mum, and I want to make sure you think I'm doing the right thing."

My expression softened even more, a reassuring smile playing on my lips. "Sweetheart, you deserve happiness, and if B makes you happy, then I support your decision. Relationships are about growth, understanding, and respect. If you feel you're ready for this step, then I trust your judgment."

Leah's shoulders relaxed, a weight lifted from her chest. "Thank you, Mum. Your support means so much to me. I want you to know that Bella and I care deeply for each other, and I'm excited about what the future holds for us."

I squeezed Leah's hand affectionately. "I can see the joy in your eyes, dear. Love is a beautiful thing, and I'm glad you've found someone who brings that into your life. Just remember to communicate openly, cherish each other, and navigate this journey together."

Leah nodded, gratitude filling her heart. "I will, Mum. Thank you for understanding and supporting us. I'm actually meeting with Natalie and Emily this week, I want to make sure they agree with my plan too!"

We they continued to talk, the kitchen echoed with laughter and stories, Leah shedding light on how she plans to ask Bella to be her girlfriend. Bella arrived home about an hour or so after mine and Leah's conversation.

I couldn't help but smile as I observed Bella embrace Leah as soon as she walked in. Bella's warmth and genuine kindness had won over not just Leah but also myself and Leah's friends. In my eyes, Bella was not just Leah's soon to be girlfriend; she was a remarkable person with a heart as generous as her spirit, she was a woman dedicated to her job and helping shape the lives of so many young people. She has proven that she is a very talented netball player and a brilliant captain to myself and the rest of the team. I admire Bella's patience, her passion for teaching, and the unwavering support she provided to Leah. Gratitude swelled within me as I reflected on how Bella had become an integral part of our lives. I was glad Leah had found someone like Bella – someone who not only complemented Leah's strengths but also a beautiful addition to our family.
