Monday 27th February
Leah POV:As I watched Bella pull out the drive for work, I couldn't help but feel an immense sense of pride. Bella's determination to launch the new PE scheme had been nothing short of inspiring. Despite the initial resistance and challenges, Bella had persevered, driven by a genuine commitment to equality and inclusion. The thought of seeing the girls and boys playing together, their faces lit with joy and enthusiasm, I felt deeply moved. Bella had not only envisioned change but had also brought it to life, creating a lasting impact on these young minds. I couldn't help but admire my girlfriend's courage and dedication, knowing that this was just the beginning of something truly transformative.
I sat in the bustling Arsenal Women's locker room, the familiar hum of chatter and laughter filling the space. This was the first time since international break I have seen the girls. It was also the day that I would update the girls on Bella's PE scheme. I also had a few ideas myself for how we can help Bella. As I laced up my boots, I glanced around at my teammates, knowing they would be just as passionate about this new opportunity as both Bella and I were.
Training soon finished, and we found ourselves in the meeting room. "Hey, everyone," I called out, my voice cutting through the noise. The room gradually quieted, all eyes turning towards me. "I need to talk to you all about something important."
Viv raised an eyebrow. "What's up, Leah?"
I took a deep breath, excitement bubbling beneath my calm exterior. "So, you know I told you all about that dick that Bella works with. The guy who wouldn't let girls join the football club?" The girls all nodded. "Well, Bella has just finished developing the new scheme she wants to introduce to the school. She's showing the teachers and children today. Her ultimate goals is to give girls the same opportunities as boys in sports. They'll be able to play football, cricket, rugby, and more, without feeling sidelined."
Beth nodded, her interest piqued. "That sounds amazing. How can we help?"
My eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "I'm glad you asked. Bella has already done all the hard work, she's done the research, included all of the statutory requirements and had it approved by the head teacher/governors, but she's going to need support. I've always told Bella that I will be there to help with training sessions and workshops. So if anyone else wants to join, that'll be great. I know she'll really appreciate the help. Our presence will inspire the girls and show them what's possible. But there's more—they need funding for equipment. I think we should chip in to provide the necessary resources."
Katie leaned forward, her eyes bright with excitement. "Count me in. This is exactly the kind of initiative we should be supporting. The opportunity we all would've loved when we were young."
The rest of the team nodded in agreement, their faces lighting up with shared enthusiasm. I felt a surge of pride in my teammates, knowing their commitment to making a difference.
Just then, Jonas, walked in, sensing the focused energy in the room. "What's all this about?" he asked, looking at me.
I stepped forward, confidence in my stride. "Jonas, we've been discussing a new PE scheme at Bella's school, it aims to give girls equal opportunities in sports. I'm suggesting that we, as a team, support this initiative by offering training sessions and funding the equipment they need."
Jonas listened intently, a thoughtful expression on his face. "This sounds like a fantastic idea, Leah. It aligns perfectly with our values as a team. Let's make it official. We'll arrange the logistics and ensure the club backs this fully."
My heart soared with gratitude and excitement. "Thank you, Jonas. This will mean the world to those kids and Bella."
Jonas nodded, a proud smile on his face. "Let's show them what the Arsenal Women's team is all about."
