The Districts were getting attacked one by one, District Twelve was bombed which barely left anything standing, Katniss had gone to see it for herself. She went to her house, gathering up a few things for herself and her family, including their cat, Buttercup, before returning back to District Thirteen.

Later that day she sat at the table in the cafeteria, completely zoned out. Gale and Naomi sat beside her, "You should try eat something," he told her, snapping her out of it. Naomi looked at her, knowing she felt somehow guilty at the fact Peeta had been taken by the Capitol, even if it wasn't her fault at all. She wanted to comfort her but Katniss wasn't exactly an open book, she didn't let down her guard for anyone right away, and she still hadn't exactly accepted Naomi as a close friend yet.

The Panem anthem interrupted Katniss' thoughts as it played loudly throughout the room, making everyone look over to it. Caesar Flickerman appeared on the screen.

"Hello. Good evening. And a big welcome to all in Panem. I'm Caesar Flickerman. And whoever you are, whatever it is you're doing, if you're working, put down your work. If you're having dinner, stop having dinner. Because you are going to want to witness this tonight. There has been rampant speculation about what really happened in the Quarter Quell. And here to shed a little light on the subject for us is a very special guest. Please welcome Mr. Peeta Mellark,"

The camera flicked onto Peeta next who was sat in a chair in front of Caesar, he was dressed in full white, his eyes looking a little empty, not showing any kind of emotion. Naomi couldn't believe it, he was alive. Katniss leaned backwards a little, taking this all in.

"Peeta, a lot of people feel as though they are in the dark," Caesar said as Katniss got up from the table and moved closer to the TV on the wall, "Yeah. I know how they feel," he responded to Caesars words before Caesar chuckled to himself, "Now, so set the stage for us. Talk us through what really happened on that final and controversial night,"

"Well, first off, you have to understand that when you're in the games you only get one wish. It's very costly,"

Naomi and Gale stood behind Katniss, watching the TV closely, Gale looked down over at Naomi to see her tearing up slightly, biting her lip to try hold it back. He furrowed his eyebrows together before lifting his eyes back up to the screen, "It costs your life," "I think it costs more than your life," Peeta said back to Caesar, "How do you mean? What's more than your life?"

"I mean to murder innocent people, that costs everything that you are," "Yes," "So you hold on to that one wish. And that night, at first, my wish was to save Katniss," he admitted to Caesar, "Yes," "You know, I should've just run off with her earlier in the day like she'd wanted," he continued, "But you didn't," "No," "Why? Were you caught up in Beetee's plan?" Caesar asked him, genuinely curious, when really he knew the answer, "No, I was caught up in trying to look after a girl. A girl I really connected to during that time in the Quarter Quell, and then they separated us, and..," Peeta paused for a moment.

"That's when I lost her,"

Naomi felt her throat begin to choke up, getting that burning feeling as she tried to hold back the tears even more, but it was getting too much for her.

"And then the lightening hit and the whole force field around the arena just blew out," "Yes, but, Peeta, Katniss is the one who blew it out," "No," he said back to Caesar, "You saw the footage,"
