Haymitch and Boggs decided it was time for Naomi to see Peeta, they came and got her from her room and brought her into the observation room. She looked into the window to look at him, still not feeling completely certain that it was a good idea. Finnick wasn't exactly happy about it but Haymitch was dead set on it happening. There was no changing his mind.
"Are you sure about this?" She asked him, turning to look at him. "This might help him improve, Naomi. He keeps asking for you. It's time," he told her with a nod of reassurance.
Finnick entered the room, coming to make sure she was going to be safe in there, Haymitch instantly turning to stop him from interrupting, thinking he was gonna take her away. He was overprotective, they all knew it, they both depended on each other.
"Finnick, I already told you this is happening," he said with his hand against Finnicks chest to stop him pushing past, "I allowed it, didn't I? My only wish is to make sure nothing happens to her. I'm staying here to observe," Finnick told Haymitch, he sighed and backed off allowing Finnick to walk into the room properly, he walked over to Naomi.
"You okay?" He asked her in a hushed tone, "I don't know about this, Finnick..," "Do you want to do it?" he questioned, by the look on her face he couldn't tell, she seemed more concerned than anything.
"Of course I do, I want him to get better..,"
"Go on then, Naomi. I'm right here," he told her while giving her shoulders a small squeeze, she nodded. He let go of her as she went to walk into the next room.
"Buzz her in," Haymitch said, the door unlocked allowing her to walk through into Peeta's room. She took a deep breath before walking through.
She let the door close behind her, "Peeta..," she uttered as she stood there in the doorway, his head turned as he looked over to her, that blank expression he had kept on his face over the past couple of days finally changed, "Naomi," a sound of relief in his voice formed as he saw her, a tiny smile appearing on his face.
She walked over to him, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "Hi," she said smiling at him, "How are you feeling?"
"Better now," he told her, she nodded before reaching to grab his hand, giving it a small squeeze. "I missed you, Peeta,"
"I thought about you every day. Wondering if I'd ever see you again...," he told her, "I'm sorry it had to be under these conditions. Until you are better it's just how it has to be..,"
He sighed, "I can't tell what's real or fake anymore, Naomi. I.. I don't want to hurt anybody," "I know, Peeta. I know. You'll get better, you just need to let us help you," she told him as she frowned, hating seeing him like this. It was killing her not to hug him, to hold him tight, to comfort him. She wanted it all to be okay again. Her eyes began to well up with tears, she blinked and let one slip down her cheek.
She stood up, walking over to him closer and lifting his head to gently kiss him, connecting her lips with his before she left him again.
"Let them help you. For me. It'll all be better soon, I promise you, Peeta," she whispered to him before she let go of his face, backing up.
"Naomi, please don't go," he begged her, she shook her head struggling to hold back the tears, "Naomi, please. Don't leave me here!"
"Get her out of there," Finnick said to Haymitch from the other side of the glass. She was completely frozen, she didn't want to go.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," she repeated to him before Boggs barged in and got her out of there, she basically collapsed into Finnicks arms, sobbing uncontrollably as she continued to hear his screams for her. Desperately wanting out of that room. To be with her alone at last.
"Come on, Naomi," Finnick said as he brought her out of the room as quickly as he could, not letting her turn back and look at him as he continued to scream her name.
Peeta loved her. That was real. He knew that.
"From this day forth, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer. I promise to love and cherish you each day," Annie spoke as she stood in front of Finnick, the two who had been waiting for this moment since they had met. The two who knew instantly they were going to be together forever."I, Finnick Odair, take you, Annie Cresta, as my wife from this day forth. Together or apart, we will always be united. One life, one purpose, one destiny,"
Naomi knew Mags would have been so proud of them in that moment, she would've loved that day. She wished she was there watching alongside her. She knew Finnick probably was thinking the same.
"You may kiss the bride,"
The two smiled before sharing a kiss, everyone clapping around them, celebrating this moment.
Naomi smiled as she watched her brother look the happiest he had ever been, dancing around in the centre of the room with his wife. She was glad he was happy, he deserved it after all. He'd been through so much.
Katniss appeared beside her soon after, the two just watching as everyone danced around. Johanna came over, letting out a sigh, "You saw Peeta, didn't you?" Johanna said to Katniss, the both of them hadn't even noticed her until she spoke. They looked over to her, "Did you tell him 'Hi' for me? We're old friends, you know. We had adjoining cells in The Capitol," she babbled on, "We're very familiar with each others screams,"
Naomi sighed.
"I'm going to kill Snow," Katniss told them both. They both looked at each other and then to Katniss, shocked at the words that just came out of her mouth, "Nothing good is safe while he's alive. And I can't make another speech about it. No more cameras. No more propos. No more games," Katniss continued, Johanna who was now smirking towards the Everdeen girl.
"He needs to see my eyes when I kill him,"
Johanna smiled before she began snickering to herself, "Now you're talking,"
"Find a way to The Capitol when everybody's looking the other way," Katniss said, "I hear the medics talking. They're shipping supplies for the front line from hangar two around midnight tonight. Medicine, painkillers. I was gonna go steal some for myself, but I guess I could just stay here and cover for you," Johanna told her, scheming a plan with her. "Anybody can kill anybody, Katniss. Even a president. You just have to be willing to sacrifice yourself," she told her. Katniss nodded.
Johanna chuckled, "Go on. Don't you want Snow to see you dance?" She said as Katniss walked off, leaving the two girls behind.
"Aren't you gonna go dance too? It's your brother's wedding for gods sake," Naomi shook her head, "Not much of a dancer," she responded to her, she had other things to think about. She'd just watch from a distance, letting him enjoy the one day he wouldn't have to worry about his little sister. It was his day. Nobody could ruin that.
