Naomi walked into the observation room with Plutarch, Haymitch, Katniss and Boggs. He was getting better with the doctors and nurses so they decided to test his response with someone who he remembers from home before he let Katniss or Naomi speak with him. Someone who he trusts.
They approached the window to watch, "Send her in," Boggs said as the door opened up, Prim walked inside the room with him, turning to look at them before approaching Peeta himself.
"Hey," she said in a calm tone, "Prim," he said as he looked at her. She sat herself down at the end of his bed, "How you feelin'?"
"She's too close," Haymitch said to Plutarch, "Mmm, it's okay," he responded before looking back again.
"How'd you get here?" Peeta asked her.
"We live in District Thirteen now. It's a real place. Stories are true. You were rescued," she explained to him, not wanting to give him too much information at a time. She didn't want to worry him.
"My family hasn't come to see me," he said to her with sadness in his voice, "There was an attack on Twelve,"
"Yes,"
"My family?" He asked her, wondering if they had survived it. She went quiet before shaking her head, "The bakery didn't survive,"
Peeta looked away from her, exhaling shakily. His family was dead. He went quiet, staring off at the wall.
"It's Katniss. It's because of Katniss," he said eventually, "It wasn't because of her," Prim told him making him lift his eyes again to meet hers. "Did she tell you to say that?" "She didn't tell me anything," Prim said to him as she shook his head.
