"My poor son in law, all he want to do is love my stubborn ass daughter and she's going to fuck that up worried about Diego's sorry ass." Alyssa sighed making Monica look over to her mom. Monica needed something to distract her mind while Landyn went to meet up with Dallas and Diego.

"Mom."

"What chile? Anyone with common sense can see that you're going to send Landyn packing." She scoffed. "And that's the last thing that man wants. He loves my grand baby. Your dad won't even get close to him because he knows you're not going to keep him around."

"That is not true." Monica frowned.

"So why are you here when he said that you both would go to the arcade? Baby if you keep trying to avoid Diego, Landyn will start to feel some type of way. It doesn't matter how secure he is within himself. Especially not when he's ready to ask you to spend the rest of your life with him."

"He told you that?" Monica looked into her mom's eyes.

"The fact you don't see that Landyn plans to marry you says a lot within itself Monica." Alyssa shook her head. "You so worried about everybody but the two guys who do everything in their power to make and keep you happy. Even if you don't focus on them the way you should."

"What about me spending time with Diego would make Landyn happy?"

"It wouldn't make him mad if you don't care about the boy. But I'm guessing maybe you do."

"No. That's not the case at all."

"Girl you and your brother think that if you lie enough, somebody will start to believe it. That's how he got caught up with Kianna." She scoffed shaking her head. "Lucky for him she was a family friend who wanted more for him."

"Not you taking up for Kianna now," Monica rolled her eyes. "I'll be happy when Andre gets over her."

"Sorry to break it to you baby. That love that you never get to truly have always lingers. Your brother will never get over her. No matter what she does. She saved him. He won't admit that right now. But I know he knows better."

"We could all be on the run right now. Or blind to the fact that your brother was being investigated. Tyson is the only one with sense. He might be upset with Keys. But he don't want that boy dead."

"Sorry to break it to you mom."

"Girl you can't tell me shit." Alyssa cut her off. "You want to micromanage everybody's life but your own. I said what I said about Tyson. That boy don't follow after your brother. You know I'm starting to wonder where I went wrong with the two of you."

"Andre never needed to become some damn street boy. You jumping on talking about your brother to avoid telling me that your man is the last thing on your damn mind. That is a good man Monica. And if you aren't ready to become someone's wife then you need to cut your ties now when he would be able to understand. Not drag it the hell out."

Monica looked away from her mom. She sighed as she looked at the polish being put on her toes. "I'm scared." She mumbled as her eyes watered. "When it comes to helping someone pick up the pieces that comes like second nature mom. That's easy. But after Diego, it wasn't me who picked up those pieces."

"Landyn did that for me. He gives me a strength I never knew I had. Especially when it comes to Dali. I was just moving through the days with him. Giving him excuses and stuff about why I couldn't do this and that. But no matter what is going on with him, he never gives Dali an excuse and he doesn't take it from me either."

Monica wiped at her tears. "Diego has taken so much from me. I don't want to share Dali with him. But even Landyn agrees that I didn't handle business so I have to share him. I don't want Landyn to agree with him."
