"You should tell her the truth. That's going to be your wife. She should know what she's signing up for before hand. Shit is cool right now; but it don't always stay that way son. You keep opening your mouth to say it but no words come out. She'll remember that." Ronald moved closer to Landyn and took a seat.

"She hated her time with Diego. I'm just showing her I can lie as much as that nigga."

"She asked you about it before and you said no?"

"Naw she's never asked. When I told her about the construction shit she took my word for that." He shrugged. Landyn sighed. "I know I gotta tell her."

"There won't ever be a right time so don't come with that excuse." Landyn laughed.

"I just said that to her damn near about a baby." He shook his head. Ronald smiled.

"I'm proud of you Landyn. Dallas acts just like us. He going tell it like it is. Not afraid to show how he's feeling. And he let us know you treat them right. Even when his mom is upset. That kid loves you. I can't imagine what you're going to do with your own."

"The same thing I do with Dallas." Landyn shrugged tapping his fingers against the counter. "I should tell her tonight huh?"

"She's trusting you with a lot. You'll have to trust her with the same. If she needs some space, grant it. But you know not to leave too much of that."

"Yeah I know." Landyn nodded. He wasn't sure what he was expecting Monica's reaction to be. But he knew it was time to tell her. Diego wouldn't wait to make sure she knew about what he was getting into on the side of what she did know. "Her baby dad said something to me about it."

"If that nigga is a problem tell me." Ronald sat up. "You know you got family who touch niggas for less. Don't let this nigga play with your family. I don't care who Dallas belong to."

Landyn smiled. "Relax dad. I got this."

"Act like it then. Tell your woman the truth and bring her home happy tonight. Or at least reassured that you got shit under control. That she's going to be good." Landyn nodded as he rose to his feet. "What's her baby daddy name? Let me keep an eye on him."

"Diego Mitchell."

"Diego Mitchell." Ronald repeated. "Alright. But I'm telling you if I see something I don't like he getting touched."

Landyn nodded. "Alright." He left the kitchen to get himself together. After almost two hours he and Monica were on their way to spend the night alone. She was quiet for most of the ride.

"What did he say to you?" She asked when they were closer to their destination. Landyn looked over to her.

"He was asking me about my wife when I had paid him back three years ago."

Monica looked away from him. "He brought that up in front of my parents." She rolled her eyes with a sigh. "Trying to make it seem like you told him that yall was getting a divorce."

"He didn't know I was talking about you. But he figured it out somehow." Landyn scoffed. "It don't matter."

"He needs to leave you alone. If he wants to be cool then he should do that. But if he's searching for answers about the past then he needs to go the fuck away." Monica snapped. "I hate him so much."

"Don't work yourself up about that." Landyn placed his hand on her leg. "That wasn't based off you for real. I mean he wanted to know if you knew everything."

"Everything. Of course I know everything. What does he possibly think I don't know?" Monica looked over to him. "You don't keep anything from me." Landyn licked his lips. His eyes met with hers and she frowned. "What don't I know?"
