"This is so embarrassing." Kianna mumbled as Andre helped her to sit in a wheelchair. They had spent most of the morning in an emergency room. He yawned since he offered to stay with her while everyone else settled in.

"It's fine. People fall."

"Oh please you only kept it in because Tyson and Keys. I hate the both of them by the way." Kianna huffed. Andre smiled as he's told up straight.

"I held it in because I was too busy staring at your ass to realize you were falling." He snickered. Kianna smacked his stomach with the back of her hand as he laughed. "Shit it's the truth." He shrugged. They both laughed. "At least it's not sprained. You just gotta stay off it for a couple of hours. I got you."

Kianna looked into his eyes. Andre wasn't sure what she was thinking. But he didn't let time linger between them. He didn't want to hear her tell him that she didn't need him to help her. That she could take care of herself. He understood his feelings that reappeared. No he wasn't in love, but he did care about Kianna.

Back then and even now. She had always had this softness to her. If he remembered much from that time it was that Kianna didn't like to disappoint people. She would give her last to make someone happy. Even if she wasn't happy. The reminder of that made him change up his suggestion.

"Unless you would rather Keys or Kaila take care of you." Some of the tension in her shoulders loosened.

"I don't want to give your parents the wrong impression." She sighed turning her head to look at him since he had moved behind her to wheel her out of the room. "Dont take what I'm about to say wrong."

"I would tell you not to say it because the warning itself could make me feel a type of way. But I'm sure you coming from a positive place. So go head."

Kianna bit her bottom lip. "When I was walking into the cabin, all I was thinking about was how your mom used to talk to me on the phone. I always wanted to meet her. Even your dad. I figured the day I did I would be someone important to you. But instead I'm the girl whose mom got arrested for public indecency."

Andre laughed as Kianna frowned. "Chill I'm not laughing at you. You know that." He nudged her cheek with his knuckles. "It's just between the two of us you dealing with the lesser evil. I'm the nigga who tagged along on your trip to be sure somebody I once called a brother doesn't bring harm to you or your siblings."

Tension rolled off of Kianna as she finally laughed. Andre shrugged. "I mean the girl who could have been. The nigga who will never." He moved his hands up and down. "My balance is tipping in your direction."

"Never is an interesting word."

Andre licked his lips and shook his head. "We not going get into that. Let me get you home I need some sleep." He pushed her to the doors of the small hospital. They had wait half the night for a doctor. Andre was exhausted but he would never tell Kianna that. She felt bad for less. He looked down at her and she seemed to be drifting off to sleep herself.

When he lifted her to put her in his truck she didn't wake. He made sure she was as secure as possible to the back seat before taking the driver's. Andre started the truck and pulled out of the lot. He thought about getting some food for Kianna, but wasn't sure she would be in the mood to eat. He knew all he wanted at the moment was sleep.

Andre followed the GPS to get to the house his sister and Kaila found. When he pulled in front of the white marble home trimmed in black details. It was surrounded by a bunch of trees. A gate in the front sealed shut behind them as he pulled around the driveway. Andre didn't want to wake Kianna but he also wouldn't leave her in the rental.
