As I walked down the street, I saw the big mess the paintball guns have caused.
My eyes landed on Dodge cleaning the paint off of Dot's Diner's windows,
"It's for players ball," I explained as I walked up to him.
"Player's what?" He questioned.
"Player's ball, it's tradition for the emcee to host a party for the players and their guests." I shrugged.
"Wouldn't they have sent an evite or something?"
"No, I think it's more festive this way." I joked.
"Festive? Okay." He muttered.
"Here I'll help you," I reached down and grabbed another rag- wiping the paint off the window.
"Well if there's a ball, I assume that you need a date- Cinderella." He smiled.
"Mm, possibly." I shrugged, trying to hide my smile.
"Could I have the honor of being your date?" He asked, putting on a fake British accent.
"You know Prince Charming isn't British, right?" I laughed.
"Wait, really? It's been so long since I watched the movie- shit, you know what I mean." He rambled.
"Yes, I'll be your date- I mean I assumed we were going together since we're dating,"
"Still the gentlemen thing to ask," He shrugged.
I leaned my head against his shoulder as we cleaned the window.
When I got home my mom was in the dining room, working on her laptop.
"Hi there honey," She smiled at me.
"Hi, mom." I sat down across from her.
"I'm going out tonight,"
"Where?" She asked.
"A party. I'm going with Heather, Natalie and Dodge."
"Dodge! Any updates with him?"
"Well, um, he asked me to be his girlfriend a bit ago." I told her.
"Omg! This is so exciting, tell me you said yes?" She squealed.
"Mommm, it's not that big of a deal. But yeah, we're dating."
"So, is this party kind of like a date?" She asked.
"I mean, I guess- he asked me to be his date to it?"
"Ah! I have to help you get ready!" She clapped.
"I'm getting ready at Natalie's!"
"Oh, yeah. Totally cool," She tried to hide her hurt.
"Next time I'm invited to a party, you can help me get ready- deal?"
"Deal," She rolled her eyes.
"I told you guys I'm not going," Heather said, laying on Natalie's bed.
"Yeah, and we're not gonna let you wallow" Natalie informed her, pulling the blanket off of her.
"I'm not wallowing," Heather pulled the blanket back over her.
"Uh yeah, this is the definition of wallowing." I nodded, walking over to the two after I finished curling my hair.
