"Welcome guys and gals to Carp's annual Metal Stampede demolition derby." The announcer's voice blared through the speakers.
Natalie, Heather and I made it to our seats just in time.
"Racers, start your engines."
"Get ready, get set, go!" The match started.
"We got some new competitors this round. In the yellow car, number 12, is Dodge Mason." I cheered for Dodge as the announcer introduced him.
"And in the green car, number 14, Ray Hall." The announcer went on.
"Remember, friends, last car still running is the winner."
"People say there's a challenge coming, tonight." Natalie told us.
"It's like you said, the game always goes on." Heather chuckled.
It could just be a coincidence that Natalie knew that there was going to be a new challenge soon, but there's always the thought in the back of my head that there's more to it.
"Well, the game feels different, though. Doesn't it?" Natalie asked Heather.
"It's not just the cops. It's..." Natalie tried to find the words to describe it.
"It's like it's not a game." Heather said, shoving a fry into her mouth.
"Yeah," Natalie shook her head.
"Oh! First causality!" The announcer yelled.
"Number 14 almost got 12 there."
"Come on, Dodge." I muttered, focused on the derby.
"I think Dodge is 12," Natalie said.
"And Ray is 14." Heather added.
"Well, let's hope he drives straight into a wall." Natalie smiled; I couldn't help but laugh at her comment.
"I told Dodge I'd buy him Sonic if he won," I told the two.
"Oo, yeah, how are things between you and Dodge?" Heather asked.
"Good!" I nodded.
"More than good, I caught them trying to hookup in the Graybills house." Natalie laughed.
"Lilia!" Heather laughed.
"Okay, fine, you got me. But we didn't do it in the house!"
"Is that implying that you guys did do it though?" Natalie asked, my face grows flushed.
"Shut up!" Natalie shouts, causing the people around us to look over.
"Keep your voice down!" I scolded her.
"When?" Natalie asked.
"Today," I shrugged.
"Oh em gee, go Lilia." Natalie high fived me.
"What's Dodge like, you know, behind the mysterious look?" Heather asked.
"He's lonely, I think." I admitted.
"It's like even when you're right next to him, he's still all alone."
"Oh, it's brutal out there! Only a few competitors left, folks." The announcer informed us.
"Hey, Bishop's here." Heather told us, I followed where her eyes were looking and found him watching the derby with Troy, Drew and Diggins.
