AFTER POPE GRABS HIS REALLY FANCY camera from the trunk of my jeep, we run over to a fence across from the road that Gavin parked on. Through Kiara's AirPods, Pope was able to hear Ward tell Gavin that he was on his way. That was said fifteen minutes ago, so now it's just a matter of time.

"Nice camera. Where did you dig up that relic?" JJ compliments, glancing at the Heyward boy with a weirdly impressed expression.

I chime in, "Why didn't you just use your phone?"

"Well, first of all, I like my antique electronics." Pope answers very matter-of-factly. "Second of all, it's a telephoto. It allows me to see and imagine from far away." He shoots a brief look at JJ, his dorky personality shining through.

I shake my head, raising my brows as I focus my stare on the road ahead. "Holy dork-nation."

"For definitive proof,— witness payoff— we're gonna need quality glass." Pope defends himself as I spot Ward's sleek, black car pull up behind Gavin's old fashioned one.

JJ points towards Ward, who has now hopped out of his fancy vehicle. "There he is!"

"Sick whip!" I compliment in a hushed yell, a smile spreading across my face. I hate Ward with everything I have in me, but his car does look pretty dope, if I'm being honest. I prefer The Twinkie— which I haven't seen since the day on the Tarmac— over Ward's car any day, though.

"Yeah, if you're a millionaire pussy." JJ nudges my arm, disgust laced in his voice as he spares me a short glare. Before I can speak, the blonde pulls me down with a gasp. "Yo, get down!" Ward must've looked our way. I was too busy paying attention to JJ to notice, though.

"There's Gavin." Pope smoothly commentates, propping his camera onto the top of the fence as he points it towards the Barnes man. "Where you going, son of a bitch?"

I push my soaking wet curls out of my face, pursing my lips as rain pelts down and onto my face and clothing. Though it's really annoying that Mother Nature decided to make it pour rain on the one day I really don't want it to rain, I can't say I'm surprised. The pogues and I have never been ones to be blessed with good luck.

"No, no!" Pope whisper-shouts, his brows snapping together as Ward runs into a wooden building that's still under construction. "I'm losing him! Shit! Where's he going?!"

JJ pats Pope on the shoulder, "Hold on." He disappears before I even have time to see where he's went. I scan the darkness, hoping to catch a glimpse of the blonde's hair or something. "Up here!" I hear JJ whisper-yell from up above. My eyes follow the sound, leading me to find JJ crouching down on the top of a tiny building, a ladder attached to the brick wall of said building.

"Hurry!" My sister is the first one to the ladder, given her spot was the closest to it. "Don't wanna miss anything." She quickly climbs up the ladder.

I hold my hands out in front of Pope, motioning for him to hand me the camera. He shouldn't be climbing up a wet ladder with an expensive camera. That's a disaster waiting to happen. "Go, man." I nod as he hands it to me. "I got it."

The Heyward boy scrambles up the ladder. Once up there, he reaches down and I hand him the camera. I then hurry up the ladder, accepting JJ's hand before firmly planting my feet onto the concrete roof, which is slick with rain.

"Are you getting it?" Kie questions Pope as I take my spot between JJ and my sister.

"Yeah. Yeah, I see him." Pope nods, squinting as he continues looking through his highly advanced camera. "Ward just handed Gavin something. I think it's a duffle bag." He fills us on his what he's seeing.
