Mal was waiting for Jay after class so they could head over to lunch together, she was on edge just waiting for the moment they would give Ben the cookie. Jay had suggested they gave it to him before the game started, that way if there were any side effects they could blame it on the tournament.

"You still sure about this? I mean, don't you feel the least bit weird about it? It's not so bad here, even you can see that." Jay had asked her that morning when they left remedial goodness together.

"Are you insane? You're mean, bad news, awful, remember? Long live evil!" She snapped her fingers in his face, he shook his head and moved her hand away from his face. "Yeah, thanks Mal, I needed that."

They didn't talk about the plan again, but Mal wanted to go over it once more during lunch. However, that wouldn't be happening as Jay informed her last minute that he was going to practice with some of the other players during their lunch period.

"You can come watch if you want, that way you won't be alone."

"What about Evie and Carlos?"

"I think Evie mentioned something about chemistry and Carlos something about computers. So, you coming with?"

Mal considered her options and decided it wouldn't hurt to go watch Jay practice, the sun might be as it was a sunny day and she didn't care for sunscreen. Regardless, she went with him and took a seat on the bleachers, all the way at the top and away from the cheerleaders who were also on the field for their practice.

Mal didn't understand Tourney, but it seemed violent so at least it had some redeemable qualities that justified her sitting down and watching the game. As she watched Jay, she noticed how much better he seemed to be than the other players, and that filled her with pride. Jay is brand new to this sport and he's dominating the field? Goes to show that one should never underestimate a villain.

While Mal got more invested in the game, she didn't notice someone was approaching her. They took a seat next to her and waited before speaking up.

"Is he your boyfriend?" Mal looked over to whoever was speaking to her, it was Audrey, in her cheer outfit. 'Of course, she's a cheerleader' Mal thought to herself.

"Jay? Absolutely not." Mal turned her attention back towards the field. "How come? Is he not your type?" Mal scoffed, Jay wishes he was her type, if she had one. "I don't have a 'type'. Boyfriends, girlfriends, relationships- all of that is so overrated. A total waste of time." Audrey didn't say anything back immediately, which made Mal curious, so she looked over to see if she was still there. To her surprise, she was!

"I don't think it's a waste of time, I think finding your special someone is beautiful. Knowing that they're out there somewhere and that no matter what, you'll always find your way to them."

"Is that how you would describe you and Ben?" Mal couldn't believe she asked that, she couldn't care less about anyone's relationship.

"My grandmother was always pushing me towards Ben, and I hated it so much because stuff like that can't be forced. Then the summer before our freshman year, something changed in the way I saw him and the rest has history."

Mal watched the way Audrey spoke as if this was her favorite story to tell, as if Ben was her everything. Deep, deep, deep within her, Mal almost felt bad for what she had to do.

"Do you love him?" Mal asked suddenly. Audrey blushed and looked away as if this was the first time anyone had asked her that.

"I... Yeah, I do."

"What, don't tell me you two have never said the L word before." Audrey hid her face behind her pompoms this time. Mal laughed, but it wasn't a mean mocking laugh, and that was new for her. The fact that she hadn't walked away from this conversation already was so new and unexpected for her.
