Evie couldn't believe she had just let Bella leave like that, what was she thinking? Yes, she trusted Bella but they weren't in Auradon anymore, this was new territory to her. She had stood her ground making it seem as if she had chosen Mal over Bella, but that wasn't true. They were back on the Isle and Evie was suddenly back to who she used to be; the girl who did everything Mal told her or faced the consequences. She hated the Isle and she hated who she had been on it.The three of them made their way up to see Mal, she had to face them now.
They explained the situation to her, it wasn't looking good.
"If you guys hadn't brought him here in the first place this never would've happened! What were you thinking?" Mal yelled at them, she was shaking with anger. They were idiots for coming in the first place, and now bigger idiots for losing the King in less than an hour!
"He was going to come with or without us, he wouldn't have risked it if he didn't care about you. We care about you Mal, even if you don't seem to think so." Evie said but it had little effect on her.
"Well, then he's a bigger idiot than I thought."
"Hey watch yourself!" Carlos stood up, his anger from earlier that day hadn't gone away yet and her attitude was bringing it up to the surface. His boyfriend had been kidnapped and Mal thought it was fine to insult him for simply caring about her! Ben had the biggest heart out of anyone he's ever known, he deserved better than being bad-mouthed by people he considered close friends.
"Mal, cool it, so what are we going to do?" Jay asked trying to intervene, Carlos would not get violent but he also wouldn't blame him if he decided to throw a couple of words at her either.
"'We' are not doing anything, this is between me and Uma. Now I have to go get him because you three are completely useless." There was one more thing that they had forgotten to add... "She might also have Bella." Mal was ready to snap them all in half.
"You lost both of them?"
"Well, she went after him by herself, she didn't want to wait for you." Jay excluded the temper tantrum part, he felt inclined to agree with Bella at the moment.
"Are you insane?! Evie, you just let it happen? I expected better from you! I don't know who she thinks she is, an idiot just like Ben. No, a bigger idiot for thinking she was going to get by easily. Unbelievable, just unbelievable."
"Oh my God, shut up! Stop calling her and Ben idiots! I trust my girlfriend enough to know that she can handle herself, and I won't stand by and allow you to talk about her like this. We came for you and we're not leaving without you, no one is getting left behind. And if I hear you insult her one more time, I will not hesitate to put you in your place."
All it took for the old Evie to go away was for Mal to come after her girlfriend. Jay and Carlos had never seen Evie like this, she was overpowering and protective, dominant. Evie had had enough of her yelling and belittling them, they were her friends and they deserved to be treated as such.
"Alright. I'm going to go see Uma." She backed away from Evie, not once stopping to apologize to any of them for her words or actions. She grabbed her jacket before hurrying down to the street, she needed to get away from them.
Mal had gone back to the Isle because she missed how things used to be but things had changed, for instance, her friends weren't afraid to stand up to her anymore. She wasn't the top dog anymore, it was Uma. What did she even want anymore?
She arrived at the Chip Shoppe soon enough, before entering she tried to shake away the weirdness of everything that had happened so far, it would all go back to normal soon. It had to.
