April showers bring May flowers, and what better example of such a saying than Auradon in the spring? Every inch of Auradon was covered in beautiful flowers, tourists would come from all over for the flower shows and people with allergies would stock up on nasal sprays.  When the flowers bloomed and summer was on the horizon along came the balls; balls to celebrate charities, history, and kingdoms, but above all it was time to debut.

The debutante ball was a right of passage for young girls at the age of sixteen to eighteen where they were introduced to high society as young ladies ready to be courted by young men of fashionable society. It was a fun night for everyone involved, as long as they were willing to participate. Many girls plan for years for the special night when they can feel like a princess, and others try to avoid it as much as possible no matter how inevitable it is for them.

As always, that was the case for Princess Bella who had dreaded the day of her coming out. She had nothing against most royal events, but a coming out party was full of backward thinking and old-fashioned nonsense, women nowadays were allowed to pick who they wanted to date without needing to be auctioned off like cattle thank you very much.

For the most part, she assumed her parents had completely forgotten about the whole ordeal, that was until her sixteenth birthday when it was brought up, unfortunately for her. Since then she's had to continue her etiquette lessons that she had stopped attending around six years ago, at least she had managed to remember a lot of the lessons from back then so her teacher never had to complain to her parents which worked wonders in her favor.

The debutant ball was being held on the 28th of May which happened to fall on a Saturday and Carlos' birthday, the teens planned to have a mini celebration with him during the night since they'd all be there. Carlos would be Jane's date, Jay would be Mal's, Doug was Lonnie's date, Ben was Evie's, and Bella would be there too- she wasn't dateless, she had just decided to keep whoever she was taking a secret, she wouldn't even tell Evie.

Before the big day, there was one more lesson for the girls to attend, a quick recap of sorts for everything they had learned from their lessons to make sure they were ready. Currently, they were all walking around the room in heels with books on their heads as their mentors walked around to help and guide them; Bella, Evie, and Lonnie were on their fifth book on their heads while Mal and Jane were still struggling with two.

It was easy for Bella and Evie who had been trained to do so since they could learn to walk, and Lonnie who was as skilled as her parents in all sorts of physical activities which surprisingly came in handy for all these princess events her parents encouraged her to participate in. Mal and Jane who had no experience were of course not having the easiest of time with the current situation, but they were determined to at least get up to a third book.

"So what are you guys going to wear for the dinner?" Asked Lonnie as she stepped to the side to take a break from all the heel walking, she could keep walking for hours but her neck was starting to cramp.

"What dinner?" Mal, who was walking back and forth slowly to keep her balance steady to not have to start over, asked her. She had had so much trouble keeping up with royal events when she was pretend dating Ben that once that was over she cleared her mind of all of them, now she was just getting her information from the school halls and Jane.

"There is always a dinner hosted the night before the ball by the mentors, it's just for us girls so no need for the escorts to be there. It's supposed to be a fun bonding experience, very 'girls just wanna have fun' type of fun." Jane explained as Evie helped her pick up the books she dropped. "Wait when did we get mentors and who are they?" Mal had spent so much time making fun of the whole debutant concept that she failed to pay attention to a lot of the information given to them, she wasn't lying about her mind being a blank slate. Truly the only reason she was doing it was because Evie was, and Ben's parents were willing to cover her and Evie's cost for this thing.
