It took three showers for the smell of sea salt to be completely gone from Bella's body, though she swore it still lingered despite having scrubbed herself so much she was red all over. Maybe it wasn't the smell she was trying to get rid of, maybe it was the whole day she wanted to wash off her.She stood in front of her mirror, she was bruised all over; her elbow from where she fell off the bike, her wrists and ankles from how hard those pirates were holding her, and her thighs from the creepy pirate that kept alluding to doing stuff with her. Bella not only felt tired but she looked visibly exhausted, she felt like giving up for the day and not showing up but her dress was haunting from where it stood.
A floor-length pink tulle dress stood behind her on the mannequin stand, it was a lace-up dress which meant she would need help getting it on but she didn't want anyone to see her till tonight. Pink wasn't a color Bella wore often, she didn't have anything against it she just felt like it washed her out. Whenever she wore pink or any light colors, she felt like it put a spotlight on her face; the dark circles under her eyes, made her look blotchy and highlighted her acne.
Evie was set on making her a dress but Belle insisted she had the perfect dress for her, Bella didn't want to be a jerk to her mom so she accepted the dress.
She stepped away from the mirror and moved over to her desk to start on her hair and makeup. She could've had someone else do it for her, that was the process for royal events but Bella enjoyed doing it herself rather than having a whole crew in her dorm.
Bella went with a pink pallet and glitter for her makeup look, her daily makeup look wouldn't match the dress and she didn't want that to be an issue for the night. She didn't want any more issues tonight, tomorrow, or next week. She decided to leave her hair down, only adding some curling mousse to her wavy hair to not look too simple. The only thing she had left were her nails and accessories; pearly white nails, pearl earrings, and the heart locket her grandfather gifted on her thirteenth birthday, it was her favorite necklace she owned.
Now all she had to do was get into her dress, she was going to need some help there. Her first thought was to text Evie for help but she didn't want her to see her just yet, so she texted Doug instead.
Dougie
Bella: Plz come 2 my room
Dougie: no
In the next minute, there was a knock on her door, it was Doug.
"What's up?" He asked as Bella let him in, he was dressed and ready to go for the dance. "Need your help getting that on, you remember how to lace up a corset right?"
"Yeah of course, oh! You're taking your robe off!" He quickly turned away from her.
"Yeah, yeah, keep it in your pants and help me." Bella took off her robe and stepped aside to lift the dress off the mannequin bust. "Dude, we've spent every summer swimming together, you've seen me in my underwear and bra before. If I do this myself, I'll ruin my makeup, please turn around."
"That's different, plus don't you have people who do this for you at the castle? Or why not ask Evie for help?" Doug turned back around making sure to look anywhere but at Bella, he was being a gentleman!
"Because it's bad luck, that and I want her to see me on the boat when there's like zero overhead lightning, you'll see what I mean in a minute."
Bella got in a squat position and crossed her arms over her head, she felt stupid every time she had to put on a gown this way but it got the job done. Doug got it over her head and held it by the corset as the rest of the gown reached the ground. Bella slipped her arms through the sleeves as he fluffed the tule at the bottom before moving on to lacing it up.
