Lois Deer always knew she wanted to be famous and she would stop at nothing to get there. At the age nine of she realized she couldn't dance, at ten she couldn't sing, and by the time she was fifteen she couldn't act to save her life. She was pretty but not pretty enough to be a model and with all options closed there wasn't much she could do to achieve the fame she so desperately wanted. So she turned to writing, at first it was just journaling and stories for herself and occasionally her English class. Then one day her English teacher submitted one of her short stories to the school paper and it got popular, she was having a great week with everyone coming up to her and complimenting her and she decided this was her ticket to fame. Her teacher had suggested she become an author but Lois thought that was lame, she wanted much more than that, she needed her writing to be on the front page of everyone's newspapers all across Auradon.
After graduating high school she started small, she wrote for her University's paper and would send out stories to newspapers and magazines across the country. Occasionally her work would get picked but it never came with the level of fame she wanted. Still, she continued on this route, slow and steady wins the race she would say to encourage herself. With all the articles she had from being published occasionally and interning at local newspapers, she managed to make enough connections to be offered jobs right after graduation.
By this point in her life, Lois was looking for anything that would propel her into the spotlight but never did she get any stories that would do just that, they said she was still too inexperienced for that sort of work. She had scored a job at a popular magazine in Auradon City, but she wasn't writing hot pieces for them. No, instead they had her working on magazine spreads targeted at preteens and teens. She pitched ideas to those above her but she was constantly shut down, this route was keeping her further and further away from the goalpost than before. At least the pay was good.
Just when all hope was lost, she got her big break.
One day at a meeting with the top editors, she was brought in to take notes as they discussed how to bring their sales up and keep them there.
"We know what sells and what doesn't, so why do we keep writing about things we know no one cares about? You all need to wake up and get your head out of your asses!" The editor-in-chief, Mitchum a six-foot-tall white man who seemed to have never smiled a day in his life, shouted slamming his hand on the table.
"We do better when we write about the royal teens, we just have to keep pumping out those articles."
"No one cares about what some kids do, royal or not."
"Statistics don't lie, every time we write about Prince Ben girls ages twelve to twenty-five flock to buy the latest issue. When we write about his sister, Princess Bella, the same can be said, people from the age of twelve to forty-five flock. Same with our website, we get more traffic when we write about them."
"Forty-five? What do grown adults need to know about the princess?"
"Checking to see if she's eighteen yet."
The men cackled, and one took it further by adding 'Fifteen is the new eighteen', Lois wasn't sure if she had to write that down, she wasn't sure if she could even bring herself to repeat them.
"The princess is always a hot topic, everything she does; what she wears, what she eats, what she doesn't eat, who she talks to and what she posts. She doesn't do interviews, every time we send a request, it's denied or ignored but still, we make it work. It gives us the chance to bend it in our favor, make up a white lie or two."
"I'd like to bend her in my favor, have you seen the way she dresses? No wonder anyone over the age of twenty keeps up with her; older men want to see what the hot younger princess is doing and their wives hate her for it. Either way, we make a profit."
