Luigi's still sitting on the couch the next day, staring at the ticket when he hears,

"Hello, beautiful!"

He looks up, finding Spike is apparently looking at something on his tablet. "Who is?"

"These babies!" Spike turns it around for him to see, "Gold chain with a matching watch!"

"At that price, you'd be better off making a chain and painting your watch gold." Luigi rolls his eyes. "And since when can you afford something like that anyway?"

"I can't, thanks for the reminder, killjoy." Spike huffs.

"You're welcome. You don't need them anyhow." Luigi says, not a trace of sarcasm.

"What is so wrong with wanting to look good?" Spike asks him. "We save people by waking them up when most would've written them off as a lost cause. I think that entitles us to some kind of compensation."

"We do get compensation." Luigi reminds him.

"Nothing we can skim off the top." Spike points out. "Look at them! They'd look so good on me!"

"Then stop making it your roommate's problem and ask for a raise." Luigi says logically.

"I'm sorry, did Luigi Turner just give me real world advice?" Spike laughs.

"And watch the showers, our water heater is about to crap out for good." Luigi says.

"You don't even know if you're awake right now. How do you know you didn't do that?" Spike challenges.

Luigi runs a hand through his hair. "Still bone dry. Not even damp.", right as there's a knock at the door.

"There's something wrong with that, and I'm gonna come back to it when I get a chance." Spike warns as he goes to the front door.

And is met with a beautiful woman standing on the doorstep, greeting, "Hi, this is Luigi's apartment, right?"

"Uh, no, can't say it is." Spike says, turning on the charm.

"Destiny?" Luigi says behind him, blowing Spike's chance.

"Figured I'd skip the pretense of surprising you and just show up. Did I do good?" She smiles widely.

"Y-yeah." Luigi stammers. "C-come in?"

Destiny does, walking right past Spike, but right then Luigi gets an alert on his phone.

"Oh, shoot. I need to leave, actually." Luigi looks guilty.

"Not me." Spike says behind them.

"You too." Luigi says pointedly. "Work, remember? Always on call."

"That's fine." Destiny shrugs. "Can I lounge around here till you come back?"

"Sure, why not?" Luigi says, then walks to the door, all but dragging Spike out the door with him.

Once the door is shut, Spike goes on offense, "Who the fuck is Destiny?"

Luigi looks up to say, "My girlfriend." Then walks away.

Spike's frozen for a second, then as he tries to catch up,

"Did you say girlfriend? "
