" You got lucky. " The director's voice over the phone says to Snoozemore in his office.
"That was a lucky move, getting ahold of Bowser's minion's walkie talkie." Snoozemore says.
" I simply appealed to his skills of manipulation. I told him if he was captured, if the Dream Lab was exposed-- "
"That would look bad on everyone, and he'd lose the upper hand." Snoozemore finishes.
" Bowser was useful. He knew doing what he did would cast doubt in Luigi's mind, and so he did."
"I lied to all of them for you." Snoozemore seethes. "I told them Luna was petrified by a chunk that happened to be in her tip jar."
" You were doing your job. "
"You had someone petrified so you could dreamwalk through her mind, knowing she'd fight to wake herself up and wipe her memories clean." Snoozemore accuses.
" We had it on good authority she had the dreamwalking algorithm. We needed to know for sure. And upon knowing, needed to know how she got it. "
Snoozemore lifts an eyebrow in surprise, "You didn't know of Bowser's involvement?"
" Believe me, if we had, Bowser never would've taken another step."
"But what good does letting him go do?" Snoozemore demands.
" More good than petrifying him. Do you know how much trouble we'd all be in if we'd brought Luna in for questioning? Luna was one of Princess Peach's most devoted guards. She wasn't going to give up anything she didn't want to except by force. She had the algorithm and was going to expose it across several worlds, and our work, our lives as we know it, would be finished. Dream Lab? Gone. Dreamwalking? Gone. No one would even think to look for any of us. Just think of what would happen if this fell into hands like Bowser's. I'd never be so stupid as to ever let that happen. More to come."
But before the line goes dead, Snoozemore says, "I can't hide the truth from Luigi forever. He's too smart for that. What am I supposed to tell him when he asks what we're really doing here?"
The line stays silent, and right as Snoozemore's sure the director has hung up, he hears,
" What do I care what you tell him? Just make sure you don't tell him the truth. ", and the line goes dead.
