Leo Blue from 1975 POV
"You know, there was a time that I was single and I looked at the world and all I saw were happy couples. Now that I'm committed, all I can see is happy singles." Kopelyn says to me one November morning as we were drinking coffee and looking at the snow falling out the window.
"Is that good or bad?" I ask apprehensively.
"I don't know." She says driftingly
(By the way, Kopelyn and I still live in different houses. We're committed, but not that crazy)
"Anyway," Kopelyn gets up and stretches her back, "It's 10:00 I have to get my car to the car wash as soon as possible before the traffic gets crazy." Kopelyn jogs out like she usually does, and her swoopy hairs bounces beautifully with every step.
I watch her look both ways before crossing and just when she gets to her driveway to pull out, I slide into the kitchen and take out my champagne and drink right from the bottle.
Ring ring ring. Ring ring ring!
"Who would possibly want a taxi ride now?" I ask myself.
"Hi! You reached Leo Blue from the taxi ride business, I can drive you anywhere inside of the city, tips are highly recommended! How may I help you today?"
"Leo, it's me!"
"Oh, Sararose! It's been years since you've called."
"Ah, ah, ah, it's Mom to you. I'm still your Mother."
"Alright, Mother, what is it?"
"We're selling your old car, you know, the first one, the Chevrolet."
"Oh! That one is a piece of junk, and all the seats are ripped up. Who would want that one?"
The one Chevy that I used to drive still had lived in my head for years. It's about as old as dirt, ugly as a blobfish and the seats look even worse than the trashpile I had climbed.
"Yeah, sell it to someone who will fix it I guess."
"Oh we have it fixed."
That's my old Chevrolet. I used to call it Scott. Scott the Chevrolet. Such an old name for such an old car.
"Oh, yeah, Sararose, I have something else to tell you...."
"Mmm hmm."
"I'm getting married in five months, but she doesn't know yet."
"What?"
"I found the one."
"......Who?"
Author's note: I know that it's very short. Anyway, stay tuned to hear Lesley's opinionated opinions in the next chapter!
