Scott Blue POV
That Saturday was a warm and pretty day for bike riding, but I had to sit around and wait for it.
I was picking at my spaghetti, which was on a paper plate (to save dishes) in Marcela and Royal's kitchen. I was all alone, cutting the noodles up with my fork. At least I stopped and started eating normal once Allie walks in. "If it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one who doesn't have a bike anymore." She says as she opens the refrigerator for water, "In fact, Roy had his bike stolen, then I had mine stolen. That one girl, Cassie Muller had her bike stolen."
"But that's different! A lot of people had their bikes stolen. Unlike all of them, I destroyed my bike in a ditch and now it's not getting fixed!" I explain, "Also, not to mention everyone likes to harass me because they all found out that I fell into a ditch!" I explain.
Allie rolls her eyes and says "You always have so many problems."
I told Henry and Roy later that day that I can't hang out with them too much. I had to do essential things, like doing chores for my neighbors in order to make money. We were on the front porch, sitting on the driveway. Roy was trying to solve a rubik's cube, and Henry was studying from this rusty old notebook. "Hey, are you guys even listening to me?"
Henry closed the book. "You can't ask people for money."
"Is that one of your dumb rules?"
"No. That's Granny Rosie's rule." He responded quickly as he opens the book again.
Roy was only half paying attention, but he suggests out of the bluest shade of blue, "Let's go clean up someone's lawn."
Henry gives him a mean look. "That's a terrible idea. There are so many old people who will kick you out if you touch their grass."
"Really? What about Keith? He's rich and will definitely give us enough to replace Scott's bike and my bike. That could be our backup plan if we don't win the talent show." Roy suggested wisely.
I stand up and do a singular clap. "Great!"
"Don't act so excited." Henry snaps. "If you really want to clean people's lawns, we need a whole list of up to twenty houses."
"Why do you want to give us more work?" I ask.
"Well, you know what my Mother always says, the more the marrier!" And he skips down the driveway.
Luckily, Henry, Roy and I had the chance to hose down Keith's car for thirty dollars each.
As I figure out how to turn the hose on, Roy asks a logical question, which was, "How did Keith become so rich all of a sudden? If he wasn't, there's no way he would give us so much money."
"Beats me." Henry scoffs.
Keith pokes his head out the door. "You boys figured out the hose?" He called.
"Sure did!" Henry calls back as he Scrubs down the windshield.
"Great! Because my car sure won't clean itself. You boys are lucky that I won the supermarket raffle. Most neighbors would give you one cent." Keith says as he turns to go back inside the house, however, he does stop and turn back to look at us, "Maybe you three will make enough to buy my wife and I new bikes after that mean old bike theif took them away from us!"
After he goes back inside, I look to Henry. "What!?"
He shakes his head. "The bike theif got them too."
"He's up to something, that bike theif! Who needs that many bikes anyway?" Asked a frustrated Roy.
"You're assuming that the bike theif is a man?" I ask.
