"Where is Taehyung? He hasn't come down for breakfast yet," Jin asked, concern evident in his voice as he glanced around the table.

Jimin furrowed his brows in confusion. "I don't know, hyung. He's been in his room since last night, and he didn't even answer when I knocked."

J-hope, who had been silently scrolling through his phone, looked up. "Didn't he attend the press conference for Ruby Cosmetics last night?"

Before anyone could respond, Jungkook came rushing into the room, holding his tablet tightly, his face a mix of shock and urgency. "Hyung! You need to see this!"

"What is it, Kook? Why are you shouting?" Jimin asked, now growing more concerned.

Without another word, Jungkook placed the tablet on the table, showing a news article. "Look at this," he urged, his finger pointing to the headline.

Everyone leaned in to read the article displayed on the screen.

"Last night, Ruby Cosmetics, a new cosmetic brand in South Korea, held a highly successful launch event. Major media outlets attended, and the CEO, Ms. Ruby Jane, made a rare public appearance."

Underneath the article were photos of the event, and among them was a familiar face—Jennie.

Jimin's eyes widened as he stammered, "Isn't that… Jennie?"

Jin nodded slowly, still processing what he was seeing. "Yes, it’s her. But the article calls her Ruby Jane… the CEO of Ruby Cosmetics?"

J-hope, his expression unreadable, chimed in. "Wait. Ruby Cosmetics. Isn’t that the brand Taehyung is collaborating with?"

The realization hit Jin like a wave. "Is that why... he's been acting strange?"

Suddenly, everything started to make sense. Taehyung had been distant, even quiet, ever since he returned from the press conference the night before. The sight of Jennie—no, Ruby Jane—after so many years, standing confidently as the CEO of a major brand, must have stirred something deep within him.

Jimin sat back in his chair, his mind racing. "Five years… and she's changed so much. No wonder no one recognized her, except those of us who knew her well."

Jin's voice was filled with realization as he muttered, "He probably didn’t expect to see her. Not like this."

Over the five years since Jennie Kim left the K-pop industry, the fast-paced world of entertainment had moved on. New idols had taken the spotlight, and with Jennie completely withdrawing from the public eye, her image had faded from mainstream memory. The K-pop industry is notorious for its rapid turnover, with new generations of stars constantly emerging and older ones often forgotten by all but their most dedicated fans.

Jennie’s transformation into Ruby Jane, the CEO of a luxury cosmetics brand, had further distanced her from her idol persona. Her appearance had evolved—she now carried a more refined, corporate image, far removed from her days as a K-pop star. Her new identity and lifestyle made it difficult for the public to connect Ruby Jane with the Jennie they once knew. Only those who were close to her, or who paid close attention, could recognize the traces of the former idol.

"Unnie!" Lisa called out, rushing out of her room, phone in hand, her voice laced with urgency.

Jisoo barely looked up, her eyes glued to her own phone. "We’re already looking at it, Lisa," she said, seated next to Rosé, who was staring at the screen in disbelief.

"Isn’t that Jennie unnie? She came back to Korea last night for Ruby Cosmetics?" Lisa asked, her tone a mix of shock and excitement.

Rosé, who had been silent until now, stood abruptly, her hands trembling slightly as she grabbed her car keys from the table. "I need to find her," she said, her voice determined.

Jisoo's brows furrowed. "Rosé, wait, we don't even know where she is."

"I don't care," Rosé said, her voice resolute as she made her way to the door. "It’s been five years. I can’t just sit here. I have to see her." Without another word, she rushed out, the front door closing with a soft thud behind her.

Lisa and Jisoo exchanged a glance, the weight of Jennie's sudden reappearance sinking in.

Taehyung's POV

"Just give up, Taehyung… move on," her voice echoed in my mind, a cruel whisper that wouldn't stop.

"I can't… I can't… I can't," I muttered, my hands clenched into fists. How am I supposed to move on? How can I forget her? How do I breathe without her in my life?

I’ve missed her every second of these past five years. Every. Single. Second. I’ve spent nights trying to find her, thinking about her, chasing the faintest trace of her presence. And now that she’s standing right in front of me—just a few feet away—she’s asking me to let go?

My heart aches at the thought. I love her more than myself. The emptiness, the void that she left behind, has consumed me. She can’t expect me to just move on like this.

"No," I whisper to myself, my resolve hardening. "I won’t give up. I know she feels the same. She’s just trying to push me away for some reason, forcing herself to say those words. But I know her… I know her heart."

If she’s still trying to deny what we had, I’ll make her fall in love with me all over again. I’ll remind her of everything we shared, of the bond that no time can break.

With that thought burning in my chest, I stand up abruptly, my legs moving with purpose. I grab my coat and slip it on, determination pumping through my veins. My car keys are in my hand before I even realize it. I won’t let her slip away again—not this time.

I fling my door open, ready to leave when Jin's voice snaps me back for a second. "Oh, Taehyung. You didn’t come down for breakfast," he says, trying to make conversation.

I barely acknowledge him, my mind already somewhere else. "I’m not hungry," I mutter, brushing past him and heading straight for the door.

Jimin, standing nearby, watches me leave with concern etched on his face. "What’s he up to now?" he asks, his voice filled with worry.

But I don’t hear them anymore. My mind is already on her. Jennie. Ruby. Whatever name she goes by now—it doesn’t matter. She’s her . She’s mine. And I’m going to win her back.
