Taehyung walked straight into the grand lobby of the hotel, his heart pounding with anticipation. He didn’t care about the whispers from the staff or the curious glances from guests. His mind was fixed on one person—Jennie, or Ruby Jane as she was now known. He hurried to the reception desk, barely able to keep the urgency out of his voice as he asked, “Is Miss Jane still here?”
The receptionist gave him an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, sir, but Miss Jane checked out early this morning.”
His heart sank. She was gone. Again. He stood there, frozen for a moment, trying to process the fact that she had slipped through his fingers once more.
“She left, Taehyung,” a soft voice said from behind him.
He turned around slowly, and his eyes widened in surprise when he saw Rosé standing there. It had been so long since they’d last spoken, since everything had changed. After Jennie left, both groups had drifted apart—not out of blame, but out of the inevitable shift that comes when something so integral is missing. BLACKPINK barely attended any events these days, their focus shifting to solo projects. The bond they all once shared had frayed at the edges.
“Rosé…” Taehyung said softly, still taken aback by her presence.
She looked at him with a mix of sadness and curiosity. “You met her last night, right? What did you two talk about? Why did she leave so suddenly? Why has she been avoiding us for five years?”
He clenched his fists at his sides, his voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t know. Last night... she asked me to move on. To forget her.”
Rosé’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Move on? Why would she say that? After everything you two had?”
He shook his head, his voice laced with pain. “I don’t know… but I can’t, Rosé. I can’t move on. How could I? I either love her or no one. I know she’s lying to herself. I know her too well to believe she doesn’t feel the same. She’s just... sacrificing her happiness for everyone else, like she always has. That’s what she did five years ago when she left.”
Rosé’s face softened with understanding, and she let out a heavy sigh. “She’s always put everyone else first, hasn’t she? But what are you going to do now? What if she’s determined to stay away?”
Taehyung’s eyes darkened with resolve as he met her gaze. “I’m going to New Zealand.”
Rosé looked shocked. “New Zealand? Why?”
“That’s where she’s been staying for the past few years, Ruby jane or whatsoever, thats where the main HQ is ” he replied. “I’ll find her and make her face what she’s been running from.”
Rosé’s expression shifted from surprise to concern. “Taehyung, wait. I get that you want to see her, but… be careful. You know how your fans can be. If they catch on to something, they’ll dig deeper, and Jennie’s been trying to stay hidden all this time. If they suspect anything, it’s her who will suffer. Don’t let the same thing happen again.”
Her words hit him hard. He knew exactly what she was referring to—the scandals, the rumors, the obsessive scrutiny. It had taken a toll on Jennie back then, and it could do so again. His fans loved him, but their love was intense, sometimes too much. He couldn’t let them hurt Jennie again, not when she was trying so hard to stay out of the limelight.
“I know, Rosé,” he said, his voice more somber now. “I’ll be careful. I won’t let anyone hurt her again.”
Rosé nodded, though her worry remained evident. “I hope you know what you’re doing, Taehyung. I want her back, too. We all do. But just... don’t push too hard. Let her come to you in her own time.”
Taehyung gave her a faint smile, but his mind was already made up. “I won’t stop, Rosé. Not until she’s back where she belongs.”
