The next day

Jennie's POV

I stepped out of my house and was walking towards my car to head to the company when Taehyung approached me... again.

"Why are you here now?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

"Jennie, you already know that I won’t fall for your tricks. Boyfriend? Huh, I know you better than anyone else. I can tell you still have feelings for me. There's no way you’ll move on and have a boyfriend. You just said that to make me go away," he said, his voice firm.

“Taehyung, I’ve already told you the truth. It’s up to you whether you believe it or not. Just don’t bother me anymore,” I replied, my irritation bubbling to the surface.

“If that’s the truth, then where’s your boyfriend? I’ve been here for three days now, and how come I haven’t seen him around—” he started, but someone interrupted from behind.

“Babe—” a voice chimed in, cutting through the tension.

“Jiho, what are you doing here?” I turned to find him walking towards me, a broad smile on his face.

“Haven’t I said that I would drop you off at the company today?” he said, his gaze shifting to Taehyung as he approached.

“It’s for you, babe. You look beautiful today as well,” he said, handing me a bouquet of vibrant flowers, their scent wafting through the air.

I looked at him, confusion flickering across my face as I processed the unexpected turn of events.

“Who is he? Is he your friend?” Jiho asked, eyeing Taehyung with curiosity.

“U-yeah, he’s just my business partner,” I said, forcing myself to maintain the act, hoping it would defuse the situation.

“Oh, right! That Korean brand ambassador, your new partner. I thought I recognized him,” Jiho continued, oblivious to the tension crackling between us. “But why is he here in New Zealand?”

“Just some work. Anyway, let’s go to the company. It’s getting late,” I said, eager to steer the conversation away from Taehyung.

“Okay... Mr. Kim, do you want a ride?” Jiho asked, looking at Taehyung with a friendly smile.

“I don’t think he wants—” I began, but Taehyung interrupted.

“Yeah, my destination is on your way to the company,” he said finally, his eyes narrowed slightly as he regarded Jiho.

“Great, let’s go then,” Jiho replied, clearly pleased with the unexpected turn of events. I shot a glance at Taehyung, whose expression was a mixture of frustration and determination. The tension in the air was palpable, but I couldn’t afford to let it show.

"Me? Going in a car with both of them? Are they kidding me? It’s going to be a long, awkward ride." I thought to myself, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. I glanced at Jiho, who was smiling cheerfully, and at Taehyung in the back seat, his expression a mix of annoyance and something else I couldn’t quite place. What did Jiho want? Taehyung would see right through this act if I made even the slightest mistake.

As we approached the car, Jiho opened the passenger door for me, and I could feel Taehyung's eyes on us, sharp and unyielding. I slid into the co-driver seat, and Jiho took the wheel, while Taehyung settled into the back, his gaze boring into the back of my head.

Once we were settled, Jiho turned to me, leaning slightly closer as he reached for my seatbelt. In a scene straight out of a K-drama, I could practically feel the tension in the air as he leaned forward to buckle me in—my heart raced at the closeness, knowing full well how Taehyung was watching us with a simmering intensity.
