Elena's POV
"Oh great. You freed the devils. But you have no more of your potion thingy. Smart. You're an earth elemental for god's sake! How do you run out?!" Scarlett shook with anger, her eyes turning red.I suddenly felt very regretful for not thinking first. All I wanted to do at that time was free our mothers.
"Elena watch out!" Rachel lunged towards me and pushed me out of the way, just as the water devil tried to claw me with a small but scary looking trident.
"What the hell? Where did that come from?" I asked.
"Stop asking questions!! Let's go!" Aqua pushed everyone out and I created a thick sprout of vines around them.
Behind us, the fire devil burnt down my barrier with a tip of its finger.
Scarlett stopped for a moment to spread a terrifying blaze of fire around the four devils. That fire was strong enough to kill 10 people trapped inside. But the devils easily got out by walking through it with just their bare feet.
"How are they not harmed? It's like they can benign our attacks!" Rachel panicked.
"Well, it's probably because they're our mothers! And they have already mastered the fighting skills! Duh." Scarlett said as if it was obvious, which it was.
Slowly, the devils started to approach us and get closer and closer.
"Alright, this isn't going any faster, and if we keep running like this, we're gonna be eaten by our own mothers!" Aqua yelled over the loud grumbles from the devils, and did a quick motion with her hand.
Suddenly a spring of shallow liquid seeped through our shoes and each of us had a trail of water flowing gracefully behind us. It increased our speed by 10x and it made getting away a breeze. It actually felt like we could run on water.
"Woohoo! Where you did you learn this trick?" I asked, feeling a bit relieved we were going faster now. She shrugged and smiled.
Scarlet huffed. "Well now I'm soaked with water." I noticed that little droplets were falling from Scarlett's head, and that she was moving unusually fast.
"Hey how come we aren't soaked?" I asked Aqua.
"Actually, we control how high the damage should be if we want our element to do a certain attack or defense. Right now, you guys are on the first level of speed, and Scarlett is on the third." Aqua chuckled.
"Scarlett needs to know how it feels to be the weakest one!"
"Hmph." Scarlett crossed her arms. "At least I'm faster." She stuck a tongue out but water splashed onto her face and she gave a scowl.
"They're gaining on us!" I yelled, snapping out of our lively conversation.
"Increase our speeds Aqua!"
She nodded and the water thrusted us forward so that we were now in sync with Scarlett.
We swiveled to the right and stopped at a dead end. "We're all gonna die and I haven't even gotten the chance to eat my mom's fried chicken yet!" Rachel cried out.
I glanced over at Scarlett. Besides the fact that she was soaked in water, she was cracking her fingers and moving her neck side to side.
Almost as if she was ready to fight, and I believe that was actually her plan.Aqua and I looked at each other, and I can feel my heartbeat gradually getting faster and faster.
We are actually going to have to fight our mothers.Rachel's eyes glowed bright white and she patted Scarlett on the back. I watched Aqua's eyes also turn blue, as a fierce look crossed her face.
Everyone is getting ready...
"Sorry mom." I whispered, as my eyes glowed a strong neon green, and my hair suddenly grew green highlights.
