Beth's POV
"Good morning Beth," Wilson says, as I enter his office. "I didn't realize we had an appointment today?"

"I called in," I murmur, sitting across from him on the couch.

"What would you like to talk about?" Wilson questions.

"I think I am ready to have sex with Dan," I blurt out, fiddling with my fingers in my lap.

I felt ready anyway. I wanted to express my love in more ways than one. And as much as I like watching I want to join in.

"You don't think you will panic?" Wilson asks.

"Not with Dan," I whisper. "I think he would make sure I'm okay."

"Well from what you and Cole have told me, he seems like a good guy," Wilson says.

"I love him," I admit. "I'm a bit worried he is still in love with his dead wife."

"Working with widowers myself, getting into new relationships is hard," Wilson murmurs. "I find that if they aren't ready to love again, they won't be with someone."

Hope fills my chest. "So Dan might love me?"

Wilson nods. "Probably," he answers. "You seemed surprised by that. Why?"

"Because I'm me and he is Dan," I answer. "I guess I am just second-guessing because he could have anyone."

"Yeah, but he chose you," Wilson says. "Do you think that could put a tether on your relationship?"

"Could it?"

"You are always equals in a relationship, Beth," Wilson explains. "Thinking that someone is better, could put barriers up between you and that's not good when you are trying to form trust with him."

"Oh."

"I have your homework for this week," Wilson says. "I think you need to sit down with Dan and talk about this."

My gut clenches. "Do I have to?"

"You don't," Wilson answers. "But it will be good for you."

As I left Wilson's office, what he said was replaying in my mind. I checked my phone and saw that Georgie sent me a message asking if I could pick the boys up from school.

I reply with a 'sure' and quickly get into my car to grab them.

I beep my horn at them when I see the pair and Evan jumps into the front with me and Robert gets into the back seat. "How was school?" I ask them.

"Good," Evan answers, while Robert just grunts. "They are thinking of making me captain of the soccer team next year."

"That's amazing," I gush.

"And Scarlett is so much of a genius she could graduate early and go to Harvard next year," Evan explains.

Ah, so that's why Robert looks so grumpy. Georgie and Dan had both told me about Robert and Scarlett's little relationship

"What about you Robert?" I ask

"Fine," he mutters. "Got a B on my math test."

"Robert would be really smart too if he put the effort in," Evan tells me.

"But B is good?" I question.

"But he isn't A+ like Scarlett," Evan argues.

"Why don't you shove that A+ up your ass," Robert snaps.

I gasp. "Robert!"

They continue to argue, both completely ignoring me.

The longest ten minutes of my life

*

"Um hi," I say awkwardly, as I stand in front of Emily's grave. "You don't know me- Well you might if you have been keeping tabs on Dan," I state. "But I love him."

"They don't speak back if you looking for forgiveness."

I scream bloody murder and spin around, seeing an older gentleman. He was holding a beach chair and had one of those old radios with the antenna.

"Didn't mean to scare you, love," he says. He pops the chair down and sits in front of the grave in front of Emily's and places the radio beside it. "Don't mind me I am just spending the day with my wife."

I nearly cried.

"I'm Beth," I tell him. "Dan's girlfriend."

"Ah yes, he's mentioned you," he says. "Those yoga ladies thrive off anything gossip-wise."

"You do yoga?"

"Yes it is good for my body," he answers. "I am Jake by the way."

"Nice to meet you," I murmur.

"So you love Dan?" Jake questions.

I nod. "Yes."

"It's good to see him getting out there again," Jake says. "He is still young and can find love again."

"You can too," I tell him.

"I get around, but I will not love again," he admits. "She was it for me."

"You don't think Dan feels the same?" I ask him.

"No, otherwise he wouldn't be with you," Jake says. "Trust me, heaps of girls have tried to get with me, but I never wanted anything serious."

"Dan used to be like that," I say.

"He's not anymore," Jake says. "Trust me on that. I've known him for a long time."

I glance down at Emily's grave again and feel all the stress I had about our relationship disappear.

I need to go talk to Dan.
