Dan's POV
A knock on my office door has me looking up from my computer. Nesha walks in and she looked pissed. "We have a situation out on the bar," she says gruffly.

I follow her out and I see a guy being held back by Cam as a girl sobbed into another girl's shoulder. "What's going on?" I demand.

The guy who Cam was holding back pipes up. "This dickhead tried to get with my wife."

"She didn't say she was married," the other guy argues. He was on the floor and he was sporting a bloody nose.

"She said no," the woman who was holding the crying one says. "And then you tried to assault her."

My stomach drops. "You did what?" I seethe.

"She was flirting with me and wasn't putting out," he argues, scrambling to his feet. I grab him by the collar and pull him out of the bar.

"You are banned, you hear me," I growl. "For Life!"

"But you the only good bar around here," he argues.

"Should've thought about that before you assaulted her," I snap. "This is a safe place for everyone and we don't welcome pricks like you here."

I storm back into the bar and see Cam giving up his jumper to the lady who got assaulted. It was then I realised her shirt was torn.

Fuck.

Why is shit like this happening in my bar?!

"I'm sorry your night got ruined like this," I say to the husband and wife. "I try to make this a safe place, but sometimes pricks make their way through the cracks."

"You need security man," the husband says. He gets a card out of his pocket and passes it to me. "I know a guy who runs a business, it would be smart to talk to him."

I nod. "Yeah, thanks."

"Tell him Dominic sent you," he says. "He will offer you a good deal."

I pat his back. "Cam," I shout over the bar. "Give this man and his wife a drink on the house tonight, because of all of the troubles."

Cam nods. "On it."

"Thank you," the wife whispers.

"It's the least I could do," I tell her.

"It's a nice gesture but my wife, Jackie is pregnant," Dominic says.

God, it gets worse.

"Well congratulations," I say to both of them. "Is this the first?"

Jackie nods. "We are both a bit nervous."

"We will be fine darling," Dominic says.

"Anybody home?" Bethany sings as she enters my apartment.

"In the living room," I call out to her.

My whole mood lightens as she walks in. She sits beside me and I wrap my arm around her shoulder. "What a day," she sighs. "How was yours?"

"Fine," I answer.

"Well you won't believe the day I had," she complains. "Some bitch tourist, complained about the froth in her coffee, even though she ordered a cappuccino."

"My god," I gasp.

"And then she complained that her salad was cold," Beth snaps. "Like it's supposed to be."

I laugh a little. "Thank god she didn't come here."

"Would've complained about the hot wings being too hot," Beth mutters.

"So what do you want for dinner?" I ask her.

"I'll make us something," Beth says. "I bought some stuff to fill up your fridge."

"Cool," I whisper. She gets up and gives me a quick peck before rushing off to the kitchen.

She ends up making some roast chicken and veg and we sit on my couch and eat it. "Your quiet tonight," Beth comments.

"Just a long day," I say vaguely.

"We can go to bed early?" Beth suggests. "We can wait before we finish Schit's Creek."

"That would be good," I whisper.

She takes my hand and squeezes it. "You can talk to me you know?" She murmurs. "I don't always have to be the one spilling shit off my chest."

I nod. "Um, a woman- a Uh pregnant woman got assaulted in the bar tonight," I tell her.

"Oh god," Beth whispers. "Is she okay?"

I nod again. "Her husband was there."

"I'm sorry that happened Dan," she murmurs. "But it isn't your fault."

"Why does it keep happening?" I ask. "Does my bar give off some vibe to rapists?"

Beth flinches. "Dan bad things happen," Beth says. "We can't control it."

"I'm going to get security," I decide. "Nothing like that is ever going to happen again."

"That's a good idea," Beth agrees.

"The husband gave me a business card," I say.

"Did he punch the guy?" Beth asks.

"Yeah his nose was pretty bloody," I answer.

"I always wished I got a hit in," Beth says. "Now I just hope he's getting it in prison."

I smile. "Fingers crossed."
