By the way, I haven't proof read the whole thing yet.
Alana's P.O.V
I'd made a small habit of walking home with George as all of my friends lived in the opposite direction and the two of us often had the same class last period.
We'd just had an extra dance rehearsal with just us and Stacey and were walking home along the main road.
"Can I just pop in here a second?" I asked pointing to a small off license.
"Sure, I'll wait here."
"Thanks, do you want anything?"
"Nah, I'm alright" he replied, smiling at the offer.
A minute or so later, I walked out the shop holding a bag in one hand and my purse, change and receipt in the other.
"Need a hand?" George asked, grabbing the bag off me before giving me chance to reply.
"Thanks," I said, awkwardly putting everything into my purse before taking off my backpack and unzipping it slightly so I could slide my purse in.
"What's the occasion?" George asked as I tried to take the bag back off him. He just shook his head and held it in the hand that was furthest away from me.
"Got friends round at my place for pizza and stuff. You could come round if you want."
"One: are there any girls? 'Cause you only ever seem to hang out with guys."
"That's all you care about? Really?"
"No. That's only number one. Now answer the question."
"Well," I said, gesturing to myself. "If you hadn't noticed, I am a girl."
"No?!" He gasped sarcastically. "Any other girls?"
"Not single ones, no."
"Damn. How many non-single people are there?"
"Out of the seven of us, two. As far as I know."
"Wait, so there's only two girls?"
"How'd you work that out?"
"'Cause you said there's two taken people and there are no single girls."
"But how'd do know that one of them isn't a guy?"
"Cause there's you and the other one... both gir-"
"Woah. Since when was I not single?"
"You're not single? What about that Harvey dude?"
"We're not dating!" I semi-shouted. "Why would you think that?"
"Well, if there's a single girl then I'll come. What time?"
"But that single girl's me," I pointed out.
"And? I wouldn't mind. Anyway I'm busy tonight. Thanks though." He said as he gave me the bag of drinks before turning into his front garden.
"Anytime," I said, slowly walking back down the road towards my house.
George was good looking; all of the girls at our college probably dreamed about him saying he 'wouldn't mind' going out with them but it was weird and left me feeling like one of his '2nd best options.'
I unlocked the door and Barney was stood there looking up at me expectantly.
"Hey there Barney," I said as I bent down to give him a quick rug behind the ears. "We'll go for a walk in a sec... let me get changed."
