Alana's P.O.V

It was about 4pm when we got back to Lucas' house. His parents were away for the weekend and his sister, Jemma, was staying over at her friend's house so the three of us had the house to ourselves. We'd been planning this weekend for months now.

"It's so hot," Alex moaned as Lucas unlocked the front door.

"It's really not that hot," I replied.

"Well, you're bloody Australian! You're used to the heat."

"I'm only half Australian and I've lived in the UK for the majority of my life... so," I corrected.

"Whatever, I'm going to have a shower," he said heading for the stairs. "I feel like walking sweat."

"That's great to hear," Lucas called as he opened the fridge to get out the food."Hey, could you start chopping the tomatoes? I really need to pee."

"I suppose so," I said grabbing a knife.

"Awesome... thanks," he said as he sprinted up the stairs.

"No problem," I replied, even though I knew that he wouldn't hear.

After chopping two of the seven tomatoes I decided to put some music on. So, I plugged my phone into the stereo and put my music on shuffle.

"Hey guys..." I called up the stairs as the second song started playing.

"Yeah?" Lucas replied. Alex was obviously still in the shower.

"What about this for a song to do?"

Alex, Lucas, Jace and I had formed a band a couple years back. It wasn't anything that serious but we'd done a couple of small shows and uploaded some of our stuff onto our YouTube channel.

"What is it?" Lucas asked.

"Saints Are Coming," I answered.

"What the U2 and Green Day one?" he asked as he came out of his room and hung over the banister to look at me.

"Yup... what do you think?"

"It'll be good... and we really need something to do."

He took a few steps along the landing before reaching the stairs and coming down towards me. We strolled into the kitchen and Lucas got a pan ready for the pasta while I finished clearing up the tomatoes.

"What the hell is taking Alex so long?" I asked.

"I'd like to use the bathroom at some point tonight," I said, raising my voice a little, in the hope that Alex would hear.

"It's Alex... he always takes forever to do anything, "Lucas said as he started opening the meat. "You can always use my room to get changed."

"Yeah, I know but he still needs to hurry up and get his ass down here," I added.

A few minutes later, Alex came downstairs and strolled casually into the kitchen.

"Finally, what took you so long?"

"I didn't take that long," he replied.

"Sure, whatever." I said. "I need to go and get changed so can you finish off chopping these onions?"

"Onions... but my eyes," he complained.

"Your eyes will be fine, I've already marinated them," Lucas said.

Alex and I just looked at each other, wide-eyed, not knowing what the hell Lucas was on about. He was a really good cook and we both appreciated – especially Alex, as he couldn't cook anything to save his life – but sometimes he would just say things and we'd have absolutely no idea what he was on about.
