Outside, the light was even brighter than it had been inside and it took a while for my eyes to fully adjust to the sunlight. Although it was sunny, the January chill still hung in the air and I zipped up my coat before heading over to parking section B.

I scanned the car park before I finally noticed Jace's green car that was parked over in the far corner.

"What did they say?" he asked as I climbed into the passenger seat.

"All in all, I'm doing good; he said I can stop wearing this thing," I said, throwing my shoulder immobiliser onto the back seat. "and I only have to take my meds once a week - he advises after training."

"Cool," Jace replied as he pulled into 3rd gear. "Anything else?"

"Erm, not really... just did some exercises and came to the conclusion that I have full movement of my arm again. Don't need weekly check-ups anymore and I have another appointment in 8 weeks."

"Right," he nodded. "Anything said about Nationals?"

I sighed.

"I asked but he kind of just blew me off... said 'we'll have to see'," I mimicked.

"Helpful then."

"I know right," I said, continuing his sarcasm as I pulled out my phone and took it off silent. "You're at training from three, right?"

"Yeah, I'll grab my stuff from home and then go. You still wanting to go swimming?"

"Yeah, I have full use of my arm so I want to make the most of it."

"Fair enough."

15 minutes later we turned left off the main road and after going around a few more corners, parked outside Jace's house.

Jace went straight upstairs to grab his kit while I headed for the kitchen. I hadn't drunk enough today and had suddenly felt a headache coming on so I poured myself a glass of water in the expectation that it would help prevent one of my migraines.

"Ready to go?" Jace asked as he dashed passed the door to the kitchen and back down the hallway.

"Yup," I replied, grabbing my bag and following him out of the front door. "Let's go."

"I'll meet you back by the car at half five, yeah?"

"Cool, Jace replied as he headed for the side door and I went through to the pool changing rooms.

Our local leisure centre had both pools and gyms as well as three large sports halls: one for gymnastics, one for trampolining and one for basketball.

I'd been in the pool for about 20 minutes and had stopped swimming for a quick water break when I noticed Harvey coming through from the training pool. He had clearly already been in the water as both his hair and body were dripping but what was he doing here? He trained at the Olympic Pool on Stratford.

I decided that as he was coming my way, he would notice me and there was no need for me to stand up and try to get his attention. With my legs still dangling in the pool below, I watched him walk along the poolside before I finally caught his gaze. I couldn't help but smile as he sped up his walk slightly to reach my end of the pool quicker.
