Alex's P.O.V

It was Sunday. I'd been looking forward to seeing everyone at youth this week.

I was sat on the end of my bed putting on my socks when my Dad called up the stairs. I thought he'd gone to work already.

"Alex... you need to get up. Remember, you have youth group today," he called.

"I know. I'm up,' I replied, grabbing my phone and walking into the bathroom to do my hair. I put a tiny bit of gel on my hands and gently brushed my hair up into a small quiff. I hated having loads of gel in my hair. I headed downstairs, only to find that my Dad had left without saying goodbye. What a surprise.

I searched the kitchen for something that I could eat for breakfast, before finding the sticky note that my Mum had left me...Look in the oven x

I opened the oven to find two warm bacon sandwiches sitting on a tray. A grin spread across my face and I sat down to munch on my breakfast.

By the time I had reached the community hall Alana, Charley and Nathan were already there.

Charley was Lucas' girlfriend and they'd been dating for about 3 months now. She was shorter than Alana, had long, blonde hair and hazel eyes. She used to go to the same school as Alana but was know at a different college.

Nathan was tall-ish, had dark skin, slightly shaved hair and the biggest smile that any of us had ever seen. He had just finished school and was taking a gap year.

"Hi Alex," the three of them said in unison.

"Hi guys. Where is everyone?" I asked, looking around the room as I took a seat next to Alana.

Nathan shrugged his shoulders. "Jace said he might be late; don't know about the others, though."

I turned to the girls... "Haven't heard from Lucas?" I asked.

"On Friday he said he was coming, so he should be," Charley responded.

"Aloha!" Jace walked into the room carrying two bags of food in his hands. He put them down on the table before planting himself on Alana's lap.

Jace was Alana's cousin. They were really close and were often mistaken for either brother and sister or boyfriend and girlfriend. That fact that they were both an only child probably played a part in them being so close. Jace was my height, with the same dirty blonde hair but the same blue eyes as Alana. He was best mates with Nathan and was also taking a gap year.

"What's in the bag?" Alana questioned, resting her head on Jace's shoulder.

"Not sure... Dan told me to bring it through."

"Looks a lot like food to me," Nathan chuckled, standing up and rummaging through the first bag.

Right on cue, the door handle rattled, causing Nathan to leap across the room and back into his seat. He landed in the chair and one of the arms fell off.

"Shi-"

Dan walked into the room and looked across to Nathan who was sat awkwardly in his chair, holding one of the arms with an unfinished swear word on his lips. Dan raised his eyebrows, shook his head and shrugged.

"I don't want to know and I don't care as long you fix that chair, Nathan."

"Okay guys," Dan said, as we all settled back down into our chairs; Jace, making himself comfortable on Alana's lap again. "So, on the 18th October, which is in just over a month, there is a youth group challenge day. Youth groups from all across London are going to be there and there will be different group tasks for teams to complete. If anyone in interested in coming, then we'll go. It's free for activities and food."

"That's sounds cool. I'll come," Charley responded.

"What sort of challenges will there be?" I asked.

"We haven't been told yet... But they did say that each challenge will be different. Some will be mental, some physical, etc."

Alana pulled her phone out from her pocket to check her calendar. "Ah. I don't whether we'll be able to make it," she said, looking up at Jace. "It's our Nan's birthday party."

"Oh yeah..." Jace moaned. "I'd forgotten about that."

"I'll ask, but I can't say a definite yes yet."

"That's cool. Anyone else?"

"Okay, count me in," said Nathan.

"Yeah, me too," I said.

"Could you let Lucas and Jemma know?" Dan asked, looking at Charley, Alana, Rachel and I. We all nodded. "Great! Now who's up for another game?"

Dan blew his whistle and Nathan and I ran down the hall, touched the wall and came back again. Nathan was faster than me and reached his team before me. However, Nathan was really clumsy and couldn't tie the rope around his and Rachel's leg. I reached the other end where Alana and Jace were waiting for me; their legs already tied together, and wrapped the rope around mine and Alana's leg. Alana and I took the first step and Jace and Alana took the second. By the time Nathan had worked out to tie the two ends of the rope together, the three of us had already reached the other end of the hall and were tackling the trick move of turning around...

Rachel was shouting at Nathan, Nathan was shouting at Rachel and Dan kept rolling his eyes while Jace, Alana and I were heading for the finish line laughing. Just as we touched the wall at the finish, Nathan tripped on his shoe lace and sent the rest of his team onto the floor.

You know when you laugh so hard that you can't stand up straight? Well, yeah... that was us.

Okayyy... getting there :) I've got a lot planned, but I just need to get going! Let me know what you think so far??

Thanks,

Leah xox
