Chapter 37: The Deal

Everyone stood still and stared at Dante. He took a step back and that's when Concubine and the others with her pounced.

Concubine: " Get Him!"

Dante started running, Meowki, Mewio and Beckham shifted into one of their animals formals, and right away grabbed Dante when they caught up. They dragged him back to Concubine and the other Shadow Knights and tossed him in front of Concubine.

Concubine: " Start Talking! How much did you hear?!"

Dante: " Not much..."

Meowki: " Don't lie to us now. That won't be a smart choice."

Dante: "... I just got here and heard you're looking for someone! That's it I swear!"

Concubine looked in Dante's eyes and had a small smile.

Concubine: " He's telling the truth. Pick him up but don't let him go. Not yet."

The twins held Dante by his arms and held him close to Concubine's face.

Concubine: " What's your name, Sweet face?"

Dante looked away.

Dante: " Why would I tell you that."

A shifter with a snake tattoo on his arm to his neck name Laszlo looked over Dante's armor.

Laszlo: " He's one of the guards of Phoenix Drop, it would appear he's a head guard or a captain."

Concubine and the others grin, some even chuckled a bit. Meowki pulled out one of Dante's swords.

Meowki: " Nice blades. You don't find many guards who use Two-Swords style."

Meowki played with the sword a bit, Dante was annoyed but he couldn't really do much about it.

Dante: " What are all of you doing here? If you're planning on attacking on Phoenix Drop or any other Village, You'll Won't Get A..."

Beckham: " Keep your armor on, Blueberry. We're not here to cause any trouble."

Concubine: " Yet."

Laszlo: " We're looking for someone. A man who made a biggest mistake in his life."

Dante: "... I'm going to regret asking this but... What did this guy do?"

Mewio: " He stole a very important treasure from our Lord, and we're hunting him down."

Meowki slapped her brother upside his head.

Beckham: " What? It's not what's not like he said Zane's name."

Laszlo punched Beckham's head, causing him to fall to the ground, everyone else glared at the Shifter. Dante jolt hearing that they were looking for Zane.

Laszlo: " Blabber mouth."

Dante: " Zane? As in Zane Ro'Meave?"

Meowki: " The one and only."

Mewio: " You seen him? If not, you better start running before we..."

Dante: " I have, he's actually in Phoenix Drop right now."

Everyone looked at each other, surprised hearing that Zane was staying in the Village who he caused the most problems to.

Beckham/Mewio: " WHAT!?!"

Meowki: " *scoffs* You're bluffing so we let you go."

Dante: " No, I mean it. Zane is really staying in Phoenix Drop and is pretty much living there."

Laszlo: " Concubine?"

Concubine came over and lifted her blindfold. She stared in his eyes for a moment and had a stun look on her face.

Concubine: " It's true. Zane is in Phoenix Drop."

Everyone looked at each other, the twins let go of Dante and he didn't run off.

Concubine: " Tell us. What has he done during his time there?"

Dante: " Well, the moment he showed up, he stayed in a cell for a while, but both our Lord and his mother Aphmau just agreed to let him out and walk around. Even knowing what he done in the past, they still let him walk around."

Concubine looked at Dante without him noticing, digging through his memories to see if Dante was telling the truth, which he was, and she also saw Kawaii-Chan and the kids. She had a smile spread across her face.

Concubine: " Must be annoying and sad that your friends and lover even to pick a man like Zane over you"

Dante: " How did you know.."

Concubine: " I'm a Seer, we see what people are thinking about or their past."

Dante looked away and nodded, it also looked like he was about to cry, but he blinked his eyes and bit his lip.

Mewio: " Ooh, feel bad, man."

Concubine: " How about we make a deal?"

Dante backed up a bit.

Dante: " No way! You're Shadow Knights, why should I trust you?"

Laszlo: " Hear us out. You hate Zane and so do we."

Concubine: " If you let us help you, we'll get rid of Zane and life will go back to normal for you."

Dante raised an eyebrow.

Dante: "... Go on."

Concubine and the others smiled.

Concubine: " Alright, here's what we can do. You let us go in your Village and cause some mayham, but hear me out before you say anything. We'll distract some of the other guards and make Zane switched."

Dante: " Switched?"

Beckham: " Yeah. You see, we sorta left Zane a little gift before he went to the Irene Dimension."

Mewio: " We curse him."

Concubine: " We?"

Mewio: " Well, Concubine did most the work."

Meowki: " Either way, Zane now has a curse that cause him to turn into a demonic form if he gets too overwhelmed or if a Seer gets in his head."

Dante: " So you're going to get him to switched into this Demon Form while you're at the Village and you're going to hold everyone back as Zane goes nuts while in that form."

Concubine: " Mmhm. But if something goes wrong or he turns back to normal, you can still sneak up behind him and use those fancy swords of yours to finish the job."

Beckham: " How about it? We hate Zane, you hate Zane, we want him dead and you want him gone. It's a win-win."

Dante was quiet for a while. He darted his eyes bac and forth for a moment. He took a deep breath and spoke.

Dante: " You're only going to go after Zane, right? You won't hurt anyone else?"

Everyone else: " No, no, no, no./ Of course not./ Wouldn't dream of hurting the others."

Dante looked away for a moment, Dante was desperate to get rid of Zane, he didn't care who Concubine or the others were, he just wanted Zane out of his life. He looked up at Concubine and held his hand out. Concubine and the others smiled as she shook Dante's hand.

Concubine: " We'll be back in two days before noon, be ready."

Dante nodded, but while shaking the Mindwatcher's hand, Dante didn't know that she and the others hid one of their hands and crossed their fingers.
