Chapter 11: Revenge

Back in present times, Zane was able to get a new Transponder Amulet. The Shifter twins, Mewio and Meowki, found him and decided to stick close to him, acting a bit like guards, and he know that they won't turn their backs on him like those four foolish O'Khasis guards he brought to Phoenix Drop a few years ago. Like before he stayed at Phoenix Drop for a while, everyone who Zane passed bowed to him and got out of his way, but this time he had two Cats walking next to him, who were Mewio and Meowki in one of their Animal Disguise, they do walk with him in their human form, but they usually do that to talk about something that the Shadow Lord assigned them to do. Zane also pulled a few other stunts to cause some problems for Phoenix Drop, starting problems for the Werewolves and continued to kill and threat those who were in his way or was told to kill. He quickly got used to his routine again shortly after running away from Phoenix Drop, but something wasn't right. Every time he passed a bakery back at home or in the few other villages he passes through, Zane would stop and zone out while looking at the windows of all the fresh pastries. He remembers Kawaii-Chan's little cafe, he remembered her warm smile and how the two would spend hours on talking about whatever was on their minds, the only person who he didn't mind talking in a long time. He shook his head, that was in the past, he had to forget her. Mewio and Meowki noticed Zane was in deep thought again.

Mewio: " Meowki, he's doing it again."

Meowki: " Oh boy. Zane. Hey, Zane!"

Zane: " Huh?!"

Meowki: " Zane, you always stare off into space when you look at a bakery. Ready to tell us why?"

Zane: " There isn't a reason. Can't a man just look what's being sell in a bakery once in a while."

A crow flew above Zane, Mewio and Meowki, they didn't notice him at first. When no one was looking, Beckham shifted into his human form.

Beckham: " Right, you want to see what's in literally every bakery you come across and you already know what they have in them and you still stare at them for a while."

Zane: " What do you want Beckham?"

Beckham jumped down with a grin on his face.

Beckham: "Well..."

Before Beckham went on, Meowki cut him off.

Meowki: " Beat it, Snitch Bird. The only reason why you come over to one of us is if you want to dump YOUR assignment on us or blackmail us."

Beckham: " WHAT!? I-I-I Don't do that..."

Mewio: " Beckham, you're nothing but a snitch and a coward and you go running to the Shadow Lord like a spoiled child to blame someone else for what they did."

Beckham: " It doesn't matter if that's true or not but..."

Zane: " Get On With It!"

Beckham: " Alright, alright, alright. I caught up with Laszlo. Ya know Laszlo, right?"

Zane: " Snake tattoo?"

Beckham: " That's him. He told me, Concubine and a few others he saw your brother ran away from his village."

Zane: "And?"

Beckham: " Laszlo saw Cezar not so long after your brother ran off. *chuckles* I think he played a dirty trick on him that caused him to run off. Probably played with his mind or something."

Zane thought about what Beckham said.

Mewio: " Yeah, that does sound like something Cezar would do. He loves to play with people emotions."

Zane: " Wait... I think I know what happened."

The three Shifters looked at each other for a moment. A few days later, Beckham found Garroth in his crow form, he was punching a tree, clenching his teeth. He started cawing, grabbing Garroth's attention. Garroth got a little closer, Beckham chuckled and jumped in front of Garroth while shifting back into human form, causing Garroth to jump and pull out his sword. Beckham quickly put his hands in front of him and backed away.
