Chapter 57: Things changed

A bit over a week passed, Aphmau still waited patiently for any word from Bright Port, wondering how Aaron is going to act when he wakes up. Will he remember us? What if part of the Shadow Lord was still in him? How will he react to everything that happened over all this time? Three years is a lot, and so much happened, but all she could do is just wait and see. It was dark, but Aphmau was still up, she couldn't get Aaron out of her head, she didn't know what to feel right now, but she snapped out of her deep thought when someone tugged at her sleeve, who turned out to be Lilith and Alina.

Alina: " Mama?"

Aphmau: " Hmm? Lilith, Alina, what are you two still doing up?"

Lilith: " We can't sleep."

Aphmau: " Oh sweeties, come here."

Aphmau picked both her girls up and placed them on her lap, she looked out the window after they got comfortable.

Alina: " What's wrong? You look sad Mama."

Aphmau: " I'm alright, honey. Just... have a lot on my mind right now."

Alina/Lilith: " Why?"

Aphmau: " Don't worry about it, girls. It's adult stuff. Let your mama take care of it."

Both Lilith and Alina looked at each other, they could just tell that something was bothering their mother, so they rest their heads on Aphmau's chest and hugged her, it seem to comfort her a bit. She smiled as she rubbed their backs till they fell asleep. Aphmau got up and tucked them into her bed, she stayed up a bit longer, but she eventually crawled into bed with her girls, curled up with them and fell asleep. Morning came, Bigglesworth came over and hooted outside Aphmau's window, waking up Alina. She nudged her mother a bit to get her up, Aphmau opened one of her eyes after Alina shook her arm a bit.

Alina: " Mama, Owley outside."

Aphmau stretched out as she sat up and look out her window. She went over and opened the window, Bigglesworth hopped in and handed Aphmau a letter from Bright Port. Aphmau gasp and right away opened it.

Aphmau: " Oh Thank Irene. Finally."

The Letter: " To our friends at Phoenix Drop, we bring some news on Aaron's recovery. He's awake and seems to be doing well so far. You and your friends could drop by to see him, he would be happy to see you all again, and he would want to hear everything you have to say about the events that happened throughout those three years he been gone, alongside the months that Zane arrived at Phoenix Drop. Until we see each other again, Lord John of Bright Port."

Aphmau smiled, but still was a little worry on how Aaron would react seeing her again or taking in the things he missed over the years. She stroked Bigglesworth's feathers.

Alina: " What did it say?"

Aphmau: " Oh... Umm.. Just Bright Port telling us that an old friend is back."

Later, Aphmau got ready to go over to Bright Port with Garroth, Katelyn, and Emilia.

Aphmau: " Okay, we'll be gone for a few days probably. When we come back, Aaron might be with us and if he wants to be alone, we'll give him his space."

Everyone nodded as Aphmau went over what they were going to do when Aaron was back to the Village, Donna and Logan watched over Alina and Lilith for Aphmau while Laurance was left in charge till they got back since some of the strongest fighters were leaving with Aphmau and Dante is gone, so he the best pick to take care of things while they're out. Back with Zane, he was with Kawaii-Chan, he was sitting next to her on her bed, and she fell asleep laying on his arm. Zane had always felt comfort being with the Meif'wa, and he was under some stress because of the Shadow Lord didn't have a host at the moment and it was possible that he could take another, which could be anyone and could be anywhere without anyone noticing. He was also a bit nervous when Aaron return, the two did technically died in the same explosion and Aaron despised Zane for what he did in the past. Zane felt his heart race a bit just thing those thoughts, it looked like he was about to have a panic attack, but Kawaii-Chan snapped him out of it by nuzzling into his arm a bit more. Zane sighed and smiled a bit. He looked down at her stomach, he still couldn't believe that she was pregnant with his child, he was scared but at the same time, he was happy. She was roughly a bit over a month in right now, she wasn't that large yet, but she already started to form a bump. Meif'was pregnancies are shorter than humans, which caught him off guard a bit, but Zane shook his head and lean over towards Kawaii-Chan.
