Chapter 47: Is this the same Man?

It's been a few days since Laurance came back. He started to settled in again, it was a bit different for him, it only been three years, but Laurance missed so much. He got to see Lilith again, the last time he was her was when she was a few months old, she went up to him and hugged him, she seems to remember him, but Aphmau also told her and Alina a few stories of Laurance while they were growing up. He also got to meet Alina, he felt a little awkward, but Alina quickly got attached to him. But the thing he still hadn't got used to was Zane, he didn't take his eyes off of Zane whenever he was t the area, Zane would usually glare back a bit. How was Aphmau and the others be okay with this? How could they have a Killer and the formal Grand High Prist that cause so many problems for them and a few other Villages just walk around like a resident of Phoenix Drop? 

Laurance's thoughts: " How could they let him just walk around? After everything he did! And they're just letting roam around. Even Alexis is okay with this?! I don't know why Aphmau is just letting him live here after everything he did, but the moment he does anything, I'm gonna kill him."

Laurance saw Lilith and Alina heading over to Zane, and he quickly scooped them up.

Laurance: " Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Where do you two think you're going?"

Alina: " To play with Zuzu."

Laurance: " Zuzu?"

The girls looked over at Zane, Laurance froze a bit finding out that the two were talking about Zane.

Laurance: " Oh no. No way."

Lilith: " What not? Why not let us play with Zuzu?"

Laurance: " Because he's a bad man."

Alina: " *giggles* No he isn't. He's a very nice and funny and fun person."

Laurance: " *scoffs* Zane? Nice? Yeah, that would be the day that pigs fly."

Shortly after he said that, Nekoette ran over to Zane with a large smile.

Nekoette: " Zane!!"

Zane looked back, but before he could react, Nekoette jumped on his back. He stumbled around a little bit and spin around a tiny bit, she wrapped her arms around his neck and laughed. When Zane got his balance, he glared over at the young Meif'wa, but more like an annoy and playful way.

Zane: " Why you Little! Who do you think you are?"

Nekoette: " A blue-hair Meif'wa, that's who."

Zane chuckled a little bit. Laurance's jaw dropped seeing this. See Zane play with Nekoette, he was actually playing with her.

Laurance: " Wh-wha?"

He put both Lilith and Alina down and they ran over to Zane and hopped on his legs, he stumbled around before catching himself. Emilia walked by and had a smirk.

Emilia: " I guess pigs fly now, they have for a few months and you finally notice it."

Laurance: " Is-is... Are.. Is this the SAME Zane Ro'Meave? The same Zane who was the Grand High Priest of O'Khasis? The same man who tried to kill us in the Irene Dimeson?"

Emilia: " Mmhm. The one and only."

Laurance: " No way. There is no way this is the same man."

Emilia: " Well, apparently it is."

Emilia singing: " And someone was able to find a way into his heart and melt it."

Laurance: " Really? Who was able to find a heart in a cold man like him?"

Emilia just smiled and looked up. Laurance looked over, Emilia was looking at Nekoette.

Laurance: " Really? Nekoette was able to get him to change."

Emilia: " Well, her and her mom helped him opened his eyes a bit."

Emilia quieter: " Kawaii-Chan and Zane are in love by the way."

Laurance: " WHAT!?!"

Laurance whipped his head around and if it was possible, his jaw would be on the ground.

Laurance: " Kawaii-Chan? The same Kawaii-Chan who was married to Dante and Nekoette's mother is in love with Zane Ro'Meave?!"

Emilia: " Uh huh. Me and Lucinda seen them kiss a few times. And it's hard to believe this is the same man who did many things in the past. He's also a pretty good father figure for Nekoette and Dmitri while Dante was still here, Dante did whatever the Hell he was doing while Zane helped Kawaii-Chan and played or train with Nekoette and Dmitri."

Laurance looked over at Zane again, now chasing Lilith and Alina around while Nekoette still on his back. He had a tiny smirk, but for a second. Later, while Zane and Nekoette were putting some of the dry laundry in a basket to take back inside Kawaii-Chan's house, Laurance came up.

Laurance: " Zane."

Zane and Nekoette looked over at him, Zane just scoffs as he went back to pulling the blankets and clothing off.

Zane: " Laurance."

Laurance: " What are you doing?"

Zane: " Laundry. What does it look like to you?"

Laurance: " No, I meant what are you doing here in Phoenix Drop after everything you did?"

Zane: " Because I live here now might be the best way to answer your question."

Laurance: " And everyone is okay with this? Even Alexis?"

Zane: " They weren't at first, but they tolerate me now."

Nekoette: " They started to see him as a good guy after me and Mama talked to him a bit and played together. Right Zane?"

Zane nodded and rubbed Nekoette's head. Laurance had a small smile and raised an eyebrow.

Laurance: "... And how about you and KC? I heard you two like each other."

Zane froze and turned pink a bit. Nekoette face lit up.

Nekoette: " YOU LIKE MAMA!?!"

Zane: " No I Don't! I mean, I like her, but not... like-like her. I only like her as a friend, nothing more."

Nekoette: " You're Pink!"

Zane tried to cover his face, wishing he still had his mask hiding his face. But before he could say anything else, Nekoette ran inside. 

Nekoette: " Mama! Mama! Zane Likes You!"

Laurance chuckled and Zane's face turn red. He quickly finishes with the laundry and headed inside.

Zane: " Let me guess, Emilia or Lucinda told you that we.... Like each other."

Lauarance had a smudge smile and just shrugged. After Zane went inside, Laurance thought about it, has he really changed? He does seem like he's became less rude and snappy. Laurance started to see why everyone was slowly lightening up towards Zane a bit, he probably has changed a bit, and it was all because of Kawaii-Chan and Nekoette? Laurance shook his head, no way Zane change, but yet again, he's showing his face, Laurance barely ever saw his whole face, but here he is, walking around with most of his hair tied up and no mask. How is this the same man? Maybe there is a little bit of good in Zane after all.
