Ancient Greece
"Athena" Arcadius called after her, the long haired, blue eyed girl turned her head and looked straight at her brother.
"Arcadius" she smiled. She was wearing a bronze dress that fell straight down and dragged along the floor "are you okay?"
"Me and Apollo were in the woods again; mother had told us to search for items, for you and Cyrus' wedding" he held out a handful of pale blue flowers
"I have not seen a blue this colour before" Athena ran her delicate finger over one of the small petals
"Mother taught us how to enchant the flowers and make them any colour we like" he replied "magic does not come naturally to some of us"
Athena had been taught from a young age to control her powers, she was the only girl within her close knit family. Though she was the youngest, all women on her father's side suffered greatly; Athena always had a small amount of power more than her twin brothers.
Her father; Demetrius had obtained a large amount of power through his blood line as well as a blood sacrifice his family had taken part in to ensure the upkeep of the Drakov family name.
Her mother; Alexus, however was a slightly weaker witch, though still powerful, she could never really match her husbands power. But both of them out together, would produce a family so powerful that they would never be defeated. Even if it meant that Athena would have to spent countless days preparing for her wedding and countless nights reciting spells from her father's grimoire.
"You know you just need a little push, Arcadius" Athena placed her hands gently underneath her older brothers and shut her eyes.
Breathing in, she could feel her soul connect with nature, the wind picking up only calmed her nerves and allowed her to harness every fibre of her magic to help her brother.
Arcadius watched as the blue flower faded into white. He raised his eyebrows, unaware of what she was doing. He then saw the petals fill with a pastel pink colour.
It was unmistaken, Arcadius and Apollo had an unfathomable amount of power, being of Drakov blood. But they were expected to teach themselves and- as their mother would say- 'allow nature to guide you through'
They could harness it, but they were not pressured in to magic as much as Athena. Over time they would increase their knowledge and become fine witches.
Athena took the flower and slipped it into the small part of her braided hair. "It is not hard, dear brother" she smiled "maybe we can show Apollo what we have learnt, where is he?"
"The last time I saw him, he was looking for Cyrus" he informed her.
Cyrus. The mere mention of his name made her heart skip a beat. She didn't know if it was his golden hair that made her weak, or was it his sharp green eyes? She could never really pinpoint it.
He was a human. That was a face she was certain on, but he was fully aware of her supernatural blessing. Demetrius, however was not a fan of their relationship, Athena had come to the conclusion that the reason was she wasn't carrying on tradition and keeping a strictly witch family.
But there was something else that Athena didn't know. Demetrius had only just found out, Apollo knew as well, along with Arcadius and Alexus. Practically everybody in the town knew except for Athena.
Cyrus wasn't faithful. In fact, everyone knew he was only marrying Athena for the title, the protection, and hopefully soon, the small town that Demetrius lead.
In spare time, when Athena could not find him. Cyrus hid behind bushes with his black haired beauty, Bryony. Whom he was in love with. But she understood the reason why the wedding must go ahead.
