Why does it hurt?

Why?

''Did you hear?'' Taehyung asked casually as he flipped the next page of the book he was reading—The Power of Words' by Shin Dohyun and Yoon Naru—while he was lying on the couch at Jeongguk's dorm. ''Jimin and Yoongi seem to be officially together.''

"Yeah, pretty sure I heard Jimin singing something like that a few days ago." Jeongguk answered while he was sitting down on the ground and kept on working on sheets of paper at the coffee table. ''Honestly, they've been together for moths; they just admitted it."

Taehyung chuckled and nodded. ''He said the same.''

''Well, it was about time they made it official,'' Taehyung remarked, a playful grin spreading across his face. ''I mean, it was getting kind of ridiculous how they tried to keep it a secret.''

Jeongguk chuckled in agreement, setting aside his work momentarily. ''Were they, really? Keeping it a secret. Because unfortunately for me, I've come upon them at the wrong moment too many times.'' He rubbed his forehead and stared down at the sheets. He saw Taehyung smile while reading.

He wondered if it was because of the book or him.

His eyes flicking to the book Taehyung was reading. ''What's that you're reading, by the way?''

Taehyung held up the book, showing the cover. ''It's 'The Power of Words.''' He tapped twice on the cover. ''I've been reading it for a few days and you notice now?'' He scoffed and searched for his bookmark. ''It's pretty interesting; it talks about how words shape our thoughts and actions. You should give it a try.''

''Maybe I will,'' Jeongguk mused, glancing at the book.

He hummed and fuffled his hair as he scretched his legs. ''God, it's so tiring.'' He whined loudly and pressed his forehead to the table. He heard shuffling from the sofa and heard another thumb on the right in front of him. ''Life is tiring at this point.'' He heard Taehyung whine at the same time.

Jeongguk raised his head, a half-smile on his face. ''And don't even get me started on exams. It's like they have a personal vendetta against us.''

''Preach,'' Taehyung agreed, settling back on the couch. ''But hey, at least we have each other to complain to. Misery loves company, right?''

Jeongguk shook his head. ''I don't know about misery, Taehyung, but your company does make things interesting.''

Taehyung chuckled, raising an eyebrow at Jeongguk's playful remark. "Interesting? Is that your way of saying I'm a walking disaster?"

Jeongguk grinned, nudging Taehyung with his shoulder. "More like a delightful chaos. Keeps life from getting too dull."

Rain continued to patter against the window, generating a calming melody. The soft glow of low lighting filled the room, evoking a cosy atmosphere that accentuated their warmth.
