It's been a week, and Taehyung still remembers his birthday so well.
Jeongguk did not drive him to their dorms, but instead to a quite familiar place. Jeongguk navigated the car through the vibrant streets of Seoul, the city lights reflecting in Taehyung's eyes. The anticipation in the car was palpable. They haven't really shared a word after the kiss; nothing new under the moonlight. They just chuckled and moved away. Taehyung brushed his lips with his sleeve, Jeongguk caughed, and turned the wheel.
As they turned a corner, a warm glow spilled onto the street from a charming, typical Korean restaurant. If there was anything he loved more, it was the atmosphere of his culture's restaurants.
"We're here," Jeongguk announced, a smile playing on his lips as he parked the car. Taehyung looked out, his eyes widening with curiosity, at the quaint establishment adorned with hanging lanterns and wooden accents.
The restaurant exuded a welcoming ambiance, a blend of modern comfort and traditional charm. The wooden sliding doors opened to reveal a cozy interior with low tables and floor cushions, creating an intimate atmosphere that felt like a step back in time.
As they entered, the scent of sizzling barbecue and aromatic spices enveloped them. The soft hum of conversation and the sizzle of meats on the grill filled the air. Jeongguk led Taehyung to a corner table, strategically placed to allow a view of the entire restaurant.
The walls adorned with framed calligraphy and traditional Korean artwork added to the cultural richness of the space. The ceiling featured a beautiful display of colorful lanterns, casting a warm and inviting glow. A hushed excitement permeated the air as the aroma of deliciously seasoned dishes wafted from the kitchen.
"Surprise!" The enthusiastic voices of Jimin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Namjoon, and Seokjin echoed through the restaurant as they emerged from a concealed corner. Taehyung's eyes widened in genuine surprise, a mixture of delight and gratitude crossing his face.
"Happy birthday, Tae!" Jimin grinned, leading the group as they approached the table.
Taehyung was genuinely touched, his gaze moving between his friends and Jeongguk. "You guys... I had no idea."
Jeongguk grinned, his eyes reflecting the joy of the moment. "Happy birthday, Tae. I thought this place would be perfect for a celebration."
As everything else he did today.
The group settled around the low table, and the restaurant staff brought out an array of mouthwatering Korean dishes—kimchi, bulgogi, and an assortment of banchan. The grill in the center of the table sizzled as they prepared their own barbecue, the scent of marinated meats filling the air.
As the group settled around the low table, a chorus of cheerful chatter filled the air. The ambient lighting from the lanterns cast a warm glow on their faces, accentuating the joyous atmosphere that enveloped the traditional Korean restaurant.
Jimin, ever the social butterfly, couldn't contain his excitement. "Taehyungie, you should've seen your face when you walked in! Priceless!"
Taehyung laughed, a genuine sound that resonated with happiness. "I genuinely had no clue, guys. You're really good at keeping secrets." He directed the last sentence to Jeongguk, patting him on the tigh as they sat next to each other.
Jeongguk grinned, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "What can I say? A magician never reveals his tricks."
He grinned while reaching to open one of the soju bottles already on the table. ''When did you order already?'' He scoffed and grabbed a glass to pour to Taehyung first and placed the bottle so the others would too.
