Were we a match?

We started with a text, a 'hi',
ended with the one that said 'goodbye'.
We used to talk for hours a day,
and now, my text has been on sent since yesterday.

We did like each other,
I can say.
But maybe you found someone else,
who you couldn't keep at bay.

Here I am with a broken heart,
a message sent.
And there you are with a happy smile,
a new scent.

We talked it through,
that what we'd do if something like this happened.
But you forgot maybe,
or maybe you just acted.

You were scared to lose me,
atleast that's what you said.
But then all of a sudden something changed,
you backed away, you fled.

We did start with a text,
maybe we shouldn't have.
Maybe we should've met first,
seen if we were a match.
