"If you wanna, uh, get changed, there's clothes in the footlocker down there." Poe told Finn, who seemed surprised at the comment. "Only if you want to, though. It might be more comfortable."

Finn frowned. He opened the footlockers Poe had shown him, to find an assortment of shirts, trousers, and a jacket or two. He picked some out, but held them as if he didn't know what to do with them. "What about my robes?"

"Don't worry, they'll be fine." Poe assured him. "And anyway, it'll be hard for anyone to recognise you like this."

Finn seemed to agree, and allowed Poe to hand him some socks and boots too. Poe tried not to look while Finn changed,, but his eyes widened at the sight of Finn's many scars. He took a little step forward. "Finn? Who did this?"

Finn pulled his shirt on, glaring at Poe. "You would never understand."

Poe raised his eyebrows. "Try me."

"No." Finn insisted. "The Sith thrive on pain. Without it, we cannot fulfil our true potential. Becoming a sith is a long and painful achievement, not one I expect you or any others like you to understand. You are too weak to know power."

"I'm not weak." Poe folded his arms across his chest, but Finn took no notice of him.

"Trust me. You are."

Poe was about to argue, but decided against it. It wouldn't do him any good for Finn to start holding grudges against him. "Fine. I'll be in the cockpit if you need me." Without waiting to hear Finn's response, he left the room and went to find Rey.

She was flying the ship, and looked at Poe in surprise. "Tired of him already?"

Poe sighed. "He's.. complicated. There's a lot to him, I guess. But he's young- and hurt, and maybe he just needs someone he can trust."

Rey nodded, eyes on her surroundings. "Well, that's a job for you. I don't want anything to do with the sith, and neither will anyone back at base. How do you think they're gonna react when a sith shows up? Did you not think anyone was gonna ask questions?"

"They won't know." Poe told her, "If anyone asks, he's a survivor we picked up from the train."

Rey shook her head. "You're impossible, Poe. You've really gone insane this time. How can you trust him- how do you know he's not just planning to kill us all?"

"Because the sith are big on revenge." Poe told her, "And the First Order hurt him, so he'll wanna work with us to get back at them, right? Anyway, I didn't mean to pick him up. He was just.. there."

After Finn had changed, he was making his way to the cockpit when he walked into the small BB droid. He slowly reached out a hand to it, crouching down. "Hello."

The droid beeped curiously in response, but Finn didn't have the slightest idea what it was saying. "I don't understand you." He explained. "But my name is Finn, or it is now. I'm from.. somewhere far away, and your friend Poe saved me."

The droid seemed to acknowledge Poe's name, beeping more lightly in response. "I don't know for how long I'm staying here with your friends." Finn told the droid. "But I'm not sure they want me here. The Jedi, Rey, especially. I don't know about Poe yet. He helped me out, so he's alright with me."

The droid said something else that Finn didn't understand, and he shrugged. "I'm sorry, little droid, I don't speak binary. Do you know what your friends are going to do with me?"

Before it could respond, Poe appeared at the end of the corridor. "Oh, hey bee-bee. Finn, this is BB-8, my little buddy." He grinned, "Bee-bee, this is Finn. He's my friend."
