Just one day later, Boun and Prem received the online version of their contract from Art by email. However, the amount he had calculated must have been wrong somehow. Boun and Prem had expected a lot more.
It wasn't a little, but they were both sure that twice as much would have been a realistic estimate.
They discussed for a while whether they should ask Art about it and decided to be honest enough to ask him about it in case there was a mistake in the contract. After all, they didn't want to rip him off by signing a contract that was to his disadvantage.
When Boun called Art about it, he immediately laughed delightedly on the phone.
"I knew it....I knew you were honest and seriously interested not only in the house, but also in the people who are renovating it for you." Art exclaimed happily.
Boun turned the phone up to let Prem listen in, so that both of them understood what he was saying.
"Guys....you've just cut your renovation costs in half." Art continued.
"Uhm....but why? It would have been tight, but we would have had the money. We don't want you to lose money on our assignment." Prem made it very clear.
"Oh guys, I haven't been concerned about money for years. I just do it all for fun. I give everyone I take on as a customer the chance to tell me that there's a mistake in the contract regarding the amount to be paid. Anyone who is honest enough to contact me about it keeps the first price. If you don't say anything about it, you have to pay the full price retroactively because, in case you haven't noticed, the contract has to be countersigned by me to be valid and my signature is not even on it yet. I've only lost customers twice since I've been renovating because I actually choose exactly who I work for and I'm often right that people deserve my help, regardless of whether they have a lot or little money themselves."
Art was a strange bird. Somehow an eccentric with a heart of gold, who you couldn't help but love with his quirky hobbies and genuine warmth.
Boun's first thought when Art assured them of the price from the contract was that they would now definitely have some money left over for their wedding. Previously, Boun had only thought of it in very small terms, which Prem would certainly have understood, as it was only about him and himself and not about the fuss on the outside, but with the budget that had now been sent from heaven, something much more exclusive could be put together.
After the conversation with Art, when they had both thanked him profusely and Boun had just hung up, Prem immediately threw his arms around his neck and kissed him, beaming with joy.
"Hia, that's soooo great! If we have so much left over, you can buy that motorcycle you want so much. There's enough money for it now."
Prem's warm smile and the joy in his eyes, which only flashed there for Boun, moved him especially now. Prem didn't even think about dividing up what was left over and perhaps buying himself something when he took his money out of the house account again.
"No, Pao, it's not just my money, yours is in there too, and you've contributed a lot. I could never buy something for that that's just for me." Boun replied, smiling gently, grabbing Prem's hand and kissing it.
"Hey, no one said I wouldn't want a ride on the machine, ok, I wouldn't want to be the driver, but I would have paid for a piece of the seat with my name on it." Prem giggled.
