Airis went to the beach with Aaron and the other guys, wanting to hang out with her father and uncles. Don't think that she's trying to avoid her mother, but hanging out with Aphmau looking at wedding preparations was taking its toll on her. So, when Aaron invited her to go to the beach and hang out with him and the guys, she quickly said.
She did feel a little guilty about leaving Aphmau alone in the house with Melissa nearby, but her mother had to learn about controlling her werewolf features when excited or stressed. What better training than having your future sister-in-law being around to pop into the room unexpectedly?
As she sat on the beach with the guys, Airis smiled when Garroth suggested a volleyball game.
"All right, Aaron, you're on my team." Garroth called out.
"Yes!" Aaron exclaimed and rushed to his side.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait a minute." Travis said.
"What?"
"I don't wanna be on the same team as Zane."
"I can say the same thing about Travis." Zane added in agreement.
"See, you guys agree with each other. You'll be perfect teammates." Garroth encouraged.
"Put me on someone else's team!" Zane shouted.
"But, but I already called dibs on Aaron."
"Wait, you called dibs on Papa? What is he, a trophy?" Airis questioned.
"That's not what I meant, Airis!"
"I'm just kidding, Uncle Garroth." Airis laughed.
"She's got a point. Is he, like, some kind of prize?" Travis asked.
"I mean, he's stronger than you guys, and I wanna win. So..."
"What the?!"
"Are you calling me weak?!"
"I man, uh..."
"He's totally calling you guys out." Aaron said.
"Aaron!"
"I KNEW IT!" Travis glared harshly.
"Yeah, I mean, before we got here he was all like, 'Zane and Travis suck'." Aaron imitated, including Garroth's laugh.
"Don't forget about the part when he called them wet noodles." Airis added just for the extra fun.
"Airis, don't be a liar like your father!" Garroth shouted.
"Why you!..."
"I trusted you, brother!"
"Aaron, Airis, what are you doing?" Garroth asked.
"Just watch." Aaron said.
"This is gonna be good." Airis smiled.
In the end, Travis and Zane agreed upon their mutual hatred towards each other and their shared hatred towards Garroth to join their forces to crush Garroth into defeated dust.
And so the great volleyball game began, everyone trying their best to get the most points. The two teams were going against each other with hearts of fire and determination, with Airis being the scorekeeper. She smiled and cheered both teams on, even though both sides began to fight each others teammates. It was fun for her, watching her family fight in a playful manner.
Finally, after a couple of rounds and scores, the final match began.
"First one to three. This is it." Travis said.
