Airis was calm, lying in bed with her mother by her side, but she couldn't sleep peacefully. Her body was calm but her mind was constantly racing with ideas and strategies for unleashing her powerful magic. But along with those thoughts, Airis wanted to know more about how the rest of her family was doing.
Travis and Katelyn were still on the island somewhere, and with the Demon Warlock being out there in his chosen vessel, there's no telling what kind of poison he could be feeding into the hearts of everyone on the island.
Airis shuffled out of bed, careful to not disturb her sleeping mother before walking out to the balcony and relishing the cool tropical air. It amazed her, how calm the wind can be with the storms of her soul were raging deep inside.
"Airis." The little girl looked to her left and saw Livana standing by her side giving her a gentle smile, "I can't even begin to imagine the pain you feel, but you know as well as I do that this pain will fade over time. Your magic will save them all."
Airis nodded, "I know." She took a small chunk of her white hair and stared at the pristine color, "But what about the consequences? I mean, I know I agreed to whatever price I would have to pay in order to fulfill this prophecy. I want this to end more than anyone. To have my family safe and sound in our homes without any more worries about this. But what about what they might have to pay? I don't know if I can handle that kind of guilt."
Livana frowned, then pulled the girl into her arms to comfort Airis.
"Dear child, you are far too selfless for your own good. But that is one of your greatest gifts, and it is why you will give it your all when the battle comes. Why you chose to go through this. If any one of those that you love are in danger, I will do my best to help protect them. That is a promise from the Goddess of Peace and Light. So don't give up now. Not now and not ever."
Airis nodded and snuggled deeper into Livana's embrace, slowly falling to sleep. The Goddess carried Airis back to the bed and tucked her in under the covers, watching as Aphmau subconsciously reached over and pulled Airis into her arms.
Livana smiled at the sight, being reminded of her time with her son all those years ago. And perhaps, after all of this has come to an end, she can go and see her family once more. But for now, she had someone she needed to speak to.
The Goddess closed her eyes and felt her soul shift through the planes of existence. When she opened her eyes again, she was face to face with the demon that caused all this pain and heartache.
"Demon Warlock." She called out, the demon turning his body to face her with a sinister grin plastered on his face, "How many thousands of years will it take for you to finally give up on your sick plot to shroud this world in your darkness?"
"Heh..." The Demon Warlock chuckled, "There is no force in any universe that can shake my determination. This world will be mine, and there is nothing that you can do to stop me."
"You mustn't underestimate me, Demon Warlock. I wasn't able to defeat you before, when you threatened the Valkyrum family, but I am far stronger than back then."
"And what will you do this time that can make a shred of difference?"
Livana chuckled, "You won't know. Because by the time you realize your demise, you will be destroyed for good."
The Demon Warlock growled at the Goddess and tried to attack her, but she disappeared, leaving the Demon Warlock to wonder what she was planning.
As he was a demon, he couldn't do anything to track her, nor see anything that his vessel wasn't seeing. He was at a disadvantage with this Goddess. He had to move quickly.
