Though everyone was terrified, unsure of themselves, and holding just a small bit of hope, they knew that this was their only chance of saving the world from the Demon Warlock. Turning themselves into Relics, having Aphmau and Airis wield them, was their only choice. It was either that or be destroyed with the rest of the world.
Rowan sighed, knowing that this plan was sheer insanity, but he couldn't go against them.
"In case you didn't realize, this machine isn't the most subtle thing. Michael will know the second it goes off that it's been activated."
"I... Um... Huh.." Zane trailed off.
"Exactly what I meant by you don't know what you're doing."
"Rowan!" Aaron shouted.
"I don't mean to bring spirits down, but if you're going to do this you need to think logically."
Airis stepped up to speak, "When activated, the machine will fire right here on the center platform from above. From what I can gather from Airis Aianae's memories, anyone standing on this platform will be engulfed in a bright light soon after activation."
"Does it.... hurt? Aaron?" Lucinda asked.
"I.... I don't remember." Aaron answered, "All I recall is that it takes a while to activate."
"That it does." Ghost answered.
Suddenly, the cannon shook once again, signaling their quickly passing time.
"We're running out of time." Lucinda pointed out, "We need to decide who turns into Relics, now!"
"Ghost said that it needs to be someone close to the wielder." Garroth reminded, "I'll do it. Aph and I have been friends since we were little and I--"
"It can't be you, brother." Zane cut him off, "We're going to need you for something far more important."
"What do you mean?"
"Agent R is right in the sense that we need to take precautions in dealing with the unknowns about this situation. Even Airis told us all she could about the Demon Warlock and we're about to face, we still need to be prepared for any kind of situation. We need to make sure that Michael.. Travis... whatever he is, is distracted while we activate the cannon. If he comes down here before we're ready, it's over for us."
"What are you thinking?" Garroth asked.
"Garroth, Katelyn... Know that I understand what I'm about to ask the both of you, but you both are physically strong. Stronger than any of us here."
Katelyn frowned, "You're asking us to face him alone. Aren't you?"
"I... I truly don't see any other way to go about this."
"He's right." Lucinda agreed, "You two are stronger now than before. Under his control your judgement was clouded, but now you should be able to think more logically."
"I.... I.." Garroth stammered.
"I'm in." Katelyn agreed with the proposition, surprising nearly everyone, "I'm terrified don't get me wrong, but if it buys us time to save everyone," She teared up, "To save Travis... I wanna redeem myself for what I've done."
Garroth nodded, "Count me in. I'll never be able to live knowing I tried to hurt my friends. My brother. My niece. I want payback."
Katelyn smiled and chuckled at Garroth, "Let's make this a fun going out party then."
Garroth chuckled back, "First one to land a face hit?"
"You're on."
Aphmau cried at the sight of her friends preparing to going into a dangerous battle.
