24. school

“Astrid, we need to go now!” I yell from the entryway, I see her running to get her shoes on. “Sorry” she says and I sigh. I drop her off at school then head to work. I haven't been as early while I have had Astrid. I get to my desk and I sigh as I grab one of the case files. I recently have taken on the secondary liaison officer as well as agent, JJ does both, but as she has been busy with other things with the Pentagons. Last month JJ got transferred to the Pentagon with no notice, Strauss won't say why, but it pissed us off. With JJ gone, and Strauss not wanting to get someone new, I was given the position.

As I'm looking through it I get a call. “This is doctor drâgos” I answer. “Hi I'm with the school, we are currently in an active shooter situation, and will update you as we know more” she says, my heart drops, jack and astrid. I look up at Aaron's office and he has the same look on his face. I see him get up and walk out to the catwalk. “Did you just get the call?” He asks and I nod. “What call?” Emily asks. Then JJ comes in. “Guys we have an active shooter in one of the elementary schools” she says then noticed the looks on mine and Aaron's face. “It's Jack and Astrid school isn't it?” JJ asks and we nod.

When we get to the round room, we are told of everything we know as of now, then we go to the field, like we did with a bank robber case a few years ago. Penelope comes with us too, something that doesn't happen often. I pace behind Penelope as she tries to hack the security cameras. “This could be a direct attack on me or Aaron, or something” I mumble to myself. “I'm in” Penny says and I stop, and look over her shoulder. I see a grown adult male going into one of the bathrooms. Please tell me both Astrid and Jack are together. I'm going to lose my mind, how is Aaron keeping it together so well? I ask myself because realizing that's a dumb question. The team walks back into the big van, more like a semi truck type room but it's portable. I see the man walk out and look at the camera. “I want Isabella drâgos, in here now, or I find her daughter” he says, looking right at the camera. “You can't,” JJ says and I shake my head. JJ just got to come back today for this case. “I have to” I say. “nu poți, el te poate ucide sau te poate tortura. Nu te pot pierde, așa cum am pierdut-o pe Hailey. Jack are nevoie de o mamă. Astrid are nevoie de o mamă, noi avem nevoie de tine, am nevoie de tine.” Aaron says switching to Romanian.
(you cant, he could kill you, or torture you. I can't lose you, like I lost Hailey. jack needs a mom. astrid needs a mom, we need you, i need you.)
I look at him and shake my head. “I'm going in, even if you don't agree” I say and eventually they reluctantly let me go.

As I walk up to the school entrance, I'm allowed in, as an FBI agent. I walk the halls until I come face to face with him. “You murdered my brother!” He screams as he sees me. I'm not sure what he is talking about. “Who is your brother?” I ask. “Sammy light” he says and that's when it hits me. He was 29 year old who raped them murdered 4 college women and had shot Morgan, so I ended up shooting him through the heart. “I'm sorry about your brother, what do you want from me?” I ask. And he points his gun at me. “I want you to suffer,” he says before shooting me in the shoulder, where my vest doesn't cover. I fall back, and grab my shoulder with my other hand.

-with the team 3rd person-

Everyone is watching the cameras, and sees her trying to desperately reason with him,they see him lineup his gun and shoot her in the shoulder, they gasp and Aaron walks away. He can't watch the person who saved him almost die like this, he won't.

-back to Isabella-

“I'm going to find your daughter, I'm going to make her watch as I kill you” he says before turning around. I take a deep breath and slowly follow him. “Tyler wait, don't bring Astrid into this, I will comply with you, if you promise to not do this” I say remembering Sammy's brother's name. He stops and turns around. “My brother was innocent, he was drunk when everything happened, do you know what it feels like to go through something like that, not only to lose your brother but also to be raped?” He asks. “Tyler, believe me I know what that feels like, I've been through it myself” I say, and I'm being truthful. He lowers his gun a little bit. “You have?” He asks and I nod. “I was 15, and at the store, as I was leaving I got followed, and shoved into an alleyway, and raped by a man twice my age, I'm well aware of what it feels like” I explain and he lowers his gun, then he quickly brings it back up. “Stop trying to get in my head!” He yells suddenly. “I'm not trying to do anything” I say and he shakes his head. “I hate you because you killed my brother, I want you to lose someone you care about too!” He yells. “This isn't the way, I can help you, I will do whatever you want” I say trying to get him to stop. “I will shoot you again!” He threatens. Before he turns around and continues walking. He gets to wear Astrid and Jack's room, and I take a sharp breath, hoping he will think it's wrong. But nope, he shoots the glass, and opens it from the inside from where he wrapped his arm around the opening. I hear screams from some of the kids. I follow in behind him. His eyes land on Astrid and Jack. “Nu intrați în panică, dragii mei, mama va opri asta, fiți puternici pentru mine și tata, bine, vă spun când să fugi.” I say in Romanian, we have taught Jack so he understands what I'm saying.
(don't panic, my love bugs, mom is going to stop this, be strong for me and dad, okay, ill tell you when to run.)
They nod, and I move to stand in front of Tyler. “Don't hurt them, take me, use me to get out of here” I say trying to reason with him. “Fine, I want you to get me out of here, I've made my point” he says before shooting me in the knee, I fall to one knee. “acum! tata e afara” I say before everyone quickly gets out.
(Now! Dad is outside)

-the team 3rd person-

They hear one gun shot, then they disappear off camera, then a few minutes go by and they hear another one and see the kids and teacher come running out. The team rushes out to meet them in the front. Aaron crouches down as Astrid and Jack come running. “mama este rănită, în genunchi și shoulder!” Astrid says frantically, jack is in tears. Aaron nods. “Penelope gets ambulances on sight now” he says into the shared mic.
(Mama is hurt, in her knee and shoulder)

-isabella's pov-

I groan as I lose blood. “You bitch” he says before pushing me over. I groan again. “When they come in to get you, I'm going to point my gun at your head while they try to reason with me” he whispers to me, and he's right, because now the team has their guns pointing at us and I'm being held at gunpoint. “Let her go, you will go to prison or die if you do this” Morgan says. “Don't care,” he says. Then a few seconds go by and I feel his grip lossen. “Fine, you can have her back, I don't want to die” he says, as he pushes me forward and I get caught by Emily. Morgan handcuffs him. “Okay baby, let's get you to the paramedics” she says and I stagger to the ambulance. The quickly get to work, and I pass out.
