10. the date

The week flies by and Emily and JJ agree to watch Astrid for me. I'm currently getting ready as Aaron didn't tell me a restaurant but told me to dress fancy. So I have on a long navy blue dress and my hair is down and curled, definitely not how I normally dress. I finish my makeup, and find my heels. Just on time like always, Aaron knocks on my door. I open it to find him in a black suit and holding a small bouquet of lilies, my favorite flower. I smile, “hi, come on in so I can get those in a vase” I say and step out of the way, he complies and steps in my apartment as I go and find a vase, i fill it up with water and place the lilies in it. “You're breathtaking” Aaron says as we walk into the fancy restaurant and I blush a little bit. “Thank you” I say. “Of course,” he says. The greater person says hello. “I have a reservation under hotchner” he says and the waiter leads us to our table, Aaron pulls out my chair for me and I sit down. “You know Astrid asked me if she could call me momma, and I have a feeling you helped her gain the confidence to ask me that” I say and he shrugs. “She was having a hard time one day trying to explain it to a teacher and after that I talked to her about it and she told me that she was scared of asking you and having you not agree.” He explained and I nod, “after you told me a little bit of that in the cafe I told her she could call me whatever was comfortable for her and she asked if she could call me momma” I say and he smiles. “She's lucky to have such an amazing woman in her life” he says after we order drinks. “I appreciate that” I say and he nods. We eat and talk.

After dinner we go back to his place where we just end up on his couch watching a movie. We talk about lots of different things and he listens to all my rants and things I'm interested in. I also over share a little bit but he doesn't seem to mind. “You know I used to play volleyball when I was in middle school and highschool, it doesn't seem like my father would let me but he did” I say and he looks intrigued. “I was a ds, I played backrow, i regret not playing in college because I actually had colleges try and recruit me but with everything going on I declined” I say and he nods, “if Astrid shows interest in any sport I'm going to support her through and through” I say “that's what I do with jack, because I played soccer in middle and highschool and regretted not playing in college” he says and I nod. “it's understandable to regret things like that, as we as people know every possible thing that could happen but our brains can only comprehend very little of it” I say, “I can't tell if you spend to much time with Reid or are the girl version of him” Aaron says out of blue and I giggle. “Very true but I have a photographic memory he has an eidetic memory” I say and he nods. “Very very true, doctor” he says sarcastically and I laugh. “See, that's why I remember all the things I read is because I have a mental picture of it in my head” I explain and he nods. “But it all works in situations like this, see if you asked me a year from now what I did today, I would say, ‘i went on a date with Aaron hotchner’ and go into detail about what we did” I say and I can see the idea turning in his head. “So that being said, can you tell me what your first day of the bau was like?” He asks and I nod.

“I remember meeting Emily first, because we got the elevator at the same time, and she made a comment about how my hair was done nicely, and then she asked what floor I was going to and I said the 6th floor and she asked if I was the new agent and I said yes, then she brought me to your office, and I'm not going to lie, I was low key nervous to meet you, because I heard that you were mean and it turns out you aren't and you are more like a very big teddy bear” I say with a giggle and he rolls his eyes. “Anyways, you asked for my file and I gave it to you, and you said I could start today, and then you had me meet the rest of the team and the rest is history” I say and he surprisingly pulls me into him so my back is against my chest, as we now sit on the couch, he wraps his arms around my waist and puts his head on my shoulder. “So your first day wasn't actually that bad” he says and I nod, putting my hands on top of his. “So, because we do work together and stuff, I've got to make sure we are on the same page about stuff.” He says and I hum a ‘mhm’ “I was going to say we should just keep it to ourselves but I have a feeling that you already told the girls” and I giggle. “Hey the night before you asked me out they thought we were already together and didn't say anything, and when I said that we aren't they said that either I'm too blind to see it but that they will find out” I say and he chuckles. “I see, so that's what they were bothering you about” he says and I nod. He starts drawing little shapes on my waist, and I blush a little bit as it's been a while since I've been in a relationship or have gone out with someone. “So, this leads me to my next question, I don't want this to be just a casual thing, I want this to be serious” he says. “First of all, that wasn't a question that was a statement and second of all, I completely agree” I say and he nods.

After a little more talking Aaron drives me home, but before I close my door, I decide to give him a little something as a parting gift. I lean up on my tip toes and give him a kiss, short and sweet, I pull back and smile. “I'll see you Monday” I say as he shakes his head. “I'll see you Monday, goodnight” he says “goodnight” I say before shutting my door. I grab my phone from my bag and call the group chat, I set it up on my counter so they see my full outfit. “Hey girly, how'd the date go?” Penelope says first. “Oh my fucking god” I breath out. “Bad or good?” Emily says “amazing” I say and I hear some giggles. “If you told me 5 years ago that I'd be going out on a date with the man who when I first met I was scared of, I would have called you insane” I say.  I hear laughs. “So what happened on this date, I see he took you somewhere fancy” JJ says, and I nod. “After the dinner we went back to his place and we talked, then I shit you not, you know how you sometimes sit with someone with their back to your chest, you know?” I ask and they nod. “He did that to me, and we talked about all sorts of different things, and he said that he doesn't want this to be a causal thing.” I hear some ‘ooo’s after I say that. “But then I felt really ballsy and kissed him before he left!” I say and I hear squeals from the girls. “Oh my God, what the fuck man, you kissed boss man, you went out on a date with boss man” I hear a very familiar voice in the back of Penelopes phone. “Penelope, am I on speaker with Morgan?” I ask and she giggles “sorry love” she says and I groan. “Morgan, if I find out that you told anyone other than the people in this call, call your whisky collection gone” I say and I hear him laugh. We end up hanging up and I change and get on my pajamas and go to bed.
