Darcy Arlo Carrington
"Your Grace, I'm sure that land is pretty dear to you." Baron Antony smirked. "All I need is the golden apple farm."
"Do you have any idea what you're asking for, Sir Antony?" Arthur said.
"Your Majesty, I'm not being unfair. If you give me the golden apple farm, I'll be willing to trade the land Duke Carrington wants." Antony shrugged.
"You know the law that land can't be taken if the traders aren't related." I say narrowing my eyes.
"About that, I would like to send you a proposal from my older daughter. I'm sure we can be very related after the marriage, don't you think? Your Majesty." He faces Arthur who was furrowing.
I reassured him before the discussion with Antony. Baron Antony has a land that is very dear and personal to me. Somehow the land got handed to him without my permission and Arthur's permission.
"I accept . . . the deal." I glare at Antony who is smirking like he won the battle
Not so fast, Antony.
"B-But Darcy-" Arthur tries to speak but I stopped him.
"It's not a unfair deal, Your Grace. You'll be getting your land back and a beautiful loving wife who loves you insanely." Antony grinned.
If he was a normal person, I would've smashed his skulls and hang it on the palace walls to show the people, what will happen if they mess with the royalty.
If I have to marry the crazy woman, Katherine De Windsor to get my land back, I will. But before that, I have to convince her for contract marriage. It's going to be hard but if she refuses, I'm going to kill her with my own sword.
After Antony left, Arthur just looked at me in confusion.
"You're going to marry the Baron's daughter?" He asks in disbelief. "The one you've been ignoring for years but she still hasn't given up?" He made a disgusted face. "The one who tortured her maid and is known to be a pathetic woman?"
"Your majesty, you seem to know quite a lot about her." I raised my brow.
"Everybody does." He rolled his eyes.
"Don't you have works to do?" I asked. "You're the king after all."
"Give me a break. I can't take it anymore." He sighed.
Arthur Arlo Carrington, my step brother. His mother was the second wife of my father but died of an unknown illness unlike my mother. After few years of his mother's death, my father also gave up with his life and left the world leaving the crown to Arthur. Apparently, it was his mother's last wish to make Arthur the king so I took the position of the Duke.
Even though, we are step brothers, we are pretty close and get along just fine.
"So when are you meeting her?" He asks curiously.
"When time calls." I said without any expression.
The difference between Arthur and me was our personality. Arthur is the cheerful and always hyped up one and I'm the one who doesn't even let out a single emotion. I don't need to.
Arthur never went to the wars so he doesn't know how it feels to thousands of soldiers die in front of you when you had the weapon but couldn't save them.
He doesn't know how it feels to lose the closest friends I have for the war.
He's just a son who was born with golden spoon where I was born with silver spoon. We are nothing alike except for the face.

"Not this older daughter." She smiled without looking at me.
What's wrong with her? I heard the Baron treats his daughters like a princess. Why would she want to escape such a fine place and come to a place where she would never receive love.
I was surprised when Katherine agreed to the contract marriage. It felt like she knew it all along and was planning the same thing. She even asked for a mansion after divorce.
She's nothing like the Katherine De Windsor I met 2 years ago.
"Darcy~ When will you marry me?" She was clinging on me and called by my first name,
I hate women like that. Keep your distance or die.
I just noticed that she has fallen asleep. Her face is quite beautiful. Her blonde hair shining by the sunlight coming from the window. Her eye lashes are long enough to touch the skin. Her dress, it's nothing like how Katherine used to dress up. It's white with pink floral designs. The Katherine I know used to show her bare skin and cleavage. She used to attract all the guys to make me jealous but that never worked.
Why am I admiring her right now? I shouldn't. She's the Baron's daughter. The cunning man's daughter. She's a snake too.

"This'll be your room. I hope you'll comfortable with it." I showed her new room.
"It's perfect!" She smiled and looked around.
"Why didn't you bring any maids?" I asked curiously.
She hesitated for some time then replied, "I don't want to burden them."
"So you want to burden the maids here instead huh?" I asked raising my brow.
"T-That's not it!" She panicked which looked like a golden retriever confused. "I won't disturb you like I said before. You don't have to give me maids and all."
I nodded then left the room. The more I talk to her, the more amusing it gets. She's not Katherine De Windsor. Her smile is angelic, her face is beautiful and her behaviour is nothing like the one I know.
"Adam, be Lady Katherine's personal guard from now on. I want you to report every single information about her. Keep a good eye on her." I instructed Adam, my right hand man. He doesn't talk much, he doesn't express much. He only obeys me and no one else.
He nodded.
"We can't let her free yet. She's the Baron's daughter afterall." I look at Adam who seemed to understand what I meant.
