The cold breeze brushing past my bare skin. I was standing on the balcony feeling the light breeze of my wedding night. Katherine is sleeping quietly on our bed.

The image of her face earlier flashed through me and suddenly I'm hard.

"Fuck.." I mumbled through my breathe.

Did I really fall in love with the Baron's daughter? That wasn't the original plan though, but, it's like she did a black magic on me.

My memories took me back to our wedding ceremony. When she entered, everyone laid their eyes on her including me. I was stunned to see a great beauty standing 10 ft away from me. Even though, she was far, her beauty was indescribable. I was so close to take her on my arm and never leave her.

She was wearing Princess Adeline's self made wedding dress which she couldn't wear because of all the tragedies but the moment I imagined Katherine on that dress, I was determined to get my hands on it.

At the wedding banquet, when Katherine and I were at the balcony talking about stuffs, one of her question really caught me off guard.

"Darcy, Do you believe in love?"

I don't know why she asked me that but before I could say anything she gave a whole lecture about how I will find my true love one day and that isn't far away.

Well, that really isn't far away is it? I glanced at Katherine's peaceful sleeping face through the balcony and smiled. Found the one.

But why was Katherine so distracted after seeing that blonde girl? It was as if . . . She'd been reunited with someone who harmed her before but they looked like they had met for the first time. When I asked her, she completely dodged the question and neutralised her face.

Something is wrong . . . Who is this girl to Katherine and why was she scared?

"Mhm..." I hear Katherine whining in her sleep. Probably feeling cold.

I went inside the room and closed the balcony door. She looks like any harmless creature can attack her right now but she wouldn't notice. I chuckled at my own thought.

I picked a lock of her hair and started twirling on my finger.

"Darcy...no more...please.." She whimpered making me laugh.

What are you dreaming of precious?

I lied down beside her and took her by my arms. It felt amazing and enchanting. It was as if my hands were finally in peace. I hugged her tightly and closed my eyes and all the pressures and anxiety flew away with Katherine sleeping on my arms.

"Katherine is still asleep. Make sure to give her breakfast after she wakes up." I told her maid. "Do not disturb her." I glared at her and she was trembling in fear.

I think Katherine is the only person who isn't scared of my bloody red eyes.

"Your Majesty, My love. Who would ever want a monster like him as the King?"

"Just look at his eyes..." She pretended to be scared which didn't fool me but my father.

The words of the second queen rang inside me. It wasn't even like I was eavesdropping their conversation, the second queen purposely said that infront of me and brainwashed my father but when Arthur was young, he was a bit careless and unfit for a king's position. His mother always supported him but father was disappointed. He almost made up his mind on making me the Emperor but soon after that, the second queen felt into an unknown illness and nobody knows about it. Her last words were, "I wanted to see my son, Arthur become a king but I guess I'll have to see it from the Heaven."

That was what changed my father's whole decision. He made up his mind finally and put me in charge for training Arthur to be fit for the position of the King while I took the major responsibility of the Grand Duke. I cannot say I regret being a Duke because being an Emperor was never my choice. I guess my second mother did a right thing.

"Your Grace." Adam gave me a look that someone had arrived.

Is it the Baron? Adam doesn't look unpleasant though.

I entered the guest waiting room and saw an old retired Knight who'd been serving our family for a long time. I had decided to let him off with a good amount of money every month because Arthur doesn't need him and he's old enough to get himself wounded any moment.

"Your Grace." I went towards him and he smiled. He still maintained his body and fitness but his white hair says how much he's grown.

Beside him, there was a young lady who looks a bit familiar. Isn't she the girl from yesterday from whom Katherine got tensed?

"I'm the Knight's daughter."

Her introduction rang a bell. I guess she is Leonard's daughter.

"Leonard." I said neutrally. "How long has it been since I last saw you?"

"I couldn't come yesterday due to my sudden pain in the chest so I had to send my only daughter at the ceremony." He showed me his daughter and she tried to smile sweetly . . . Didn't look sweet to me.

She had blonde hair but wasn't like Katherine's golden which definitely shines under the sunlight. Her eyes... isn't as attractive as Katherine's. She has green eyes which is unique but what about the caramel brown eyes? I crave those.

"I'll leave you two alone." The knight said and I raised my brow.

"Why's that?"

"Uh- to..she's a bit lonely in this town and... she doesn't have anyone to hangout with-"

"I believe the ladies from the town will be generous enough to lend her hand on this." I said folding my arm.

"That is indeed true, Your Grace. But you see she has this..." He looks at her daughter who was almost at the verge of crying. "Disease.. She cannot stay out at the sun much."

Do they think I'm a fool? But I guess I have no choice because Leonard did a lot for us so it is best if I return the favour.

I sighed. "Go on." I command him and he left.

"Y-Your Grace, we met yesterday so I guess there is no need for introduction." She said shyly.

"I met thousands of people yesterday." I answered.

Her face saddened and her gaze was down, "T-The one you met at the balcony..."

"Lady. Tell me your name or don't. Don't puzzle around." I glared at her and she flinched. Her eyes became watery and she was trembling. No fun. Katherine wouldn't do such thing.

Why am I comparing her with Katherine anyways? She's hundred times better than this lowly creature trembling in front of me.

"Can we take a w-walk at the garden?" She finally looked at me.

My anger rose but I couldn't say anything but I guess I have no choice. I dug my own grave afterall.
