"Let's go before i leave you here forever" her father yelled from downstairs heading out the door. They are moving. Her father got a new job somewhere where it meant packing away all she knows in cardboard boxes and starting over, something she hated. She feared that moving was running away from the problem they still face, finding her mother.

"Jeez I'm coming" she grabbed her last bag and closed her old door. Heading downstairs and see her now emptied childhood home. The echo of the stairs upset her. She felt her tears building but knew to compose herself and not let it affect her this much. "Goodbye mom." That was the last thing she said to her home.

"Ready?" Her father said. She just nodded and sat back to mentally prepare for her life which she had no idea what she was going to get into.

First day in a new school, how fun for a 17 year old. Veronica hated switching schools. She loved her school and her friends and her teachers, but Ric was so excited. He was her new history teacher. How fun having your dad as your teacher. Her parents were both into things she found boring, history and paranormal research. She walked into her first class, which for her was history with Ric. She took a seat in the back where there was an empty seat.

"Good morning, everyone. Alrighty, lets see." Ric says as he writes his full name on the board. "Alaric Saltzman. I know its a mouthful. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Saltzman is of German origins. My family emigrated here in 1755 to Texas. I, however, was raised in Boston. Now the name Alaric belongs to a very dead grandfather who I will never get to thank enough. As for my daughter, Veronica Saltzman who is very much hiding in the back, is from where we just moved from, North Carolina. " Veronica knew he would do that, call her out so the whole class can stare her down. It's exactly what they did.

She awkwardly smiled and lowed her head in hopes people got the hint and looked away.

"You'll probably want to pronounce it Alaric' but it's Alaric, okay? So you can call me Ric, I'm your new history teacher" he continued.

Lunch time comes and Veronica assumes she'd be spending it alone or with her dad in his classroom, but along comes a perky Caroline Forbes.

"Hi I'm Caroline, I've learned a lot about you today. I'm assuming you have no friends, no offense, so i'll let you come sit with me while I catch you up with school news." The girl introduced herself.

"News?"

"Drama silly. You know you remind me so much of my friend Elena." She then dragged Veronica to the lunchroom with her.

"So basically I'm just extremely upset that she just wont give me back the necklace like it was mine first so why does she even want it." Caroline spent the whole lunch going on and on about two girls who Veronica had no idea who they were. She just sat and listened to her while eating, completely zoned out.
